AFRICAN BATTLE CRY # 5

Event: African Battle Cry # 5
Hip Hop in Cape Town celebrates 20 years in South Africa with a Birthday Jam 2001/ 2002.    DJ’ing, Breakdancing, Spraycan Art, Rapping, Capoeira & Music
Production Workshops, Battles & Jam.   Black Noise will also be celebrating their 14th birthday at this event.
Date:  22nd February 2002
Venue:  Podium Hall in Cape Town Civic Centre
Time:  15H00 – 24H00
Fee:   R20 for Jam, R5 per workshop (5 workshops) or R30 for day

HEAL THE HOOD SCHOOL CIVIC TOUR 2002

Event:   Heal the ‘Hood
This event deals with ways of confronting and discussing problems andsolutions in our neighbourhoods.   From crime to AIDS the youth get to discuss these issues in poetry, songs, rap and story writing.   This year a recording will be made that will include the recording of a music video for television.    It also explores the possibility of youth using their talent to make an income and supplying new directions for jobs for youth.   Schools can also make some money from the event.
Dates: 1st February 2002 – 19th March and during 2nd and third school term.

BLACK NOISE TOUR SWEDEN & NORWAY 20TH MARCH – 10TH MAY

Black Noise tours the Heal the ‘Hood to Sweden and will participate in the 2002 European Capoeira Championships in Goteborg, Sweden.

5 day Hip Hop expo including Battle of the Year, S.A. Breakdance Champs

17th July 2002 – Graffiti Battle by TVA (Falco, Mantis & Max)
18th July 2002 – MC & DJ battles and live recording
19th July 2002 – South African Breakdance Champs, BOTY
20th July 2002 – Hip Hop Inadaba Finals and Awards
21st July 2002 – After Party
Venues: 17th, 18th & 21st July 2002 venue to be confirmed
19th July 2002 – Main Hall at the Goode Hope Centre
20th July 2002 – Drommedaris Hall, Goode Hope Centre
Fee:  R20 / event , R30 for BOTY (19th July) or R 70 for whole event
