Durban – Having just spent the last 14 days in front of a computer alongside an HTML guru and a Web Developer , Arthur “Don” Motswako says he is finally ready to go online.. and like Gabi Le Roux and Chiskop – HE’S COMING OUT GUNS BLAZING !!

After a 2-year hiatus Don Motswako, under the auspices of his company – Nexor 516 CC – launched YEAHBO ONLINE, a youth culture portal site that promises to be “the hottest thing to young South Africa since branded clothing.”

Don Motswako first came to the attention of netizens when he launched the rather “outspoken” email-based entertainment update – URBANTAINMENT – in 1998. At the time he was also involved in club deejaying, event marketing and artist management and due to commitments in those spheres he “disappeared” off the net – until this past Friday.

According to Nthato Mokgata of Levitation Magazine the “SITE IS BEAUTIFULLY LAID OUT.”  YEAHBO ONLINE has sections on movies, features, deejays, music reviews, current news, fashion, a mailing list and an event listing. Motswako
cites that the site went online in its most basic form. Features that are in the pipeline include a message board, online sms functionality, ringtone/logo downloads, a dedicated “shoutout” line/IVR, an MP3 download section and links to online R&B and hiphop videos.  STYLE AND FASHUN will be profiling design houses, their products and services as well as the designers of each design house/label. Our debut feature is on Ephraim Molingoana, who owns a label named Ephymol – in
addition to being the image consultant for the Generations (yes the soapie) cast.

The site is also geared toward the development of hiphop in South Africa. One of the features to go live soon will be “VERSE OF THE WEEK”, where emcees will be able to have their “ciphers” published online, and have other emcees comment or respond to it. The UNSIGNED TALENT section will profile (serious) artists that are not signed to a record label yet, with the objective of getting them promoted and signed.

YEAHBO ONLINE also has a section strictly for press releases. Whilst every effort will be made to publish all received press releases, youth entertainment-related ones will be given preference. In our DEEJAY section netizens will be able to read up on South Africa’s most happening deejays. We find that the Glen Lewis’s and DJ Fresh’s are everywhere including online, while many talented upcoming deejays don’t even have an email address. YEAHBO ONLINE will be seeking out these talented individuals and provide a platform to market them and their services.

Motswako says that although his compay is based in Durban, the site has no boundaries in terms of its target market.. and he further cites that the payoff line – URBAN KULCHA WITH A PINCH OF HIPHOP AND A DASH OF SOUL – is very true to what the site aims to become to young South Africa. When asked whether YEAHBO ONLINE is going to compete with other “urban” or related sites for the attention of young South Africa, all Motswako had to say was “BELIEVE DAT !!”
