Shift_F7 and Bomb Shelta Hi-Fi present Godessat her feet, a collaboration between Nadia Davids’ play At her feet and local female hip-hop group Godessa, at the Armchair Theatre Observatory on Saturday 31st May 2003.

The night sees a celebration of the return of At her feet to the Baxter Theatre as of the 9th June 2003 while Godessa heads off to Europe on tour between June and July 2003. The line up include Award winning actress Quanita Adams sharing with the audience the characters she plays in At her feet, a live performance by Godessa as well as featured DJ’s Kenzhero and Dub Master China. P4 Radio’s Koketso Sachane is to host the evening with doors to open at 9pm.

At Her Feet throws out interesting questions about prejudices against Muslim people, while engaging issues like honor killings, hair politics, the implications of wearing a scarf or gender biases. Davids and Adams use a range of performance vehicles from monologues to song and poetry to dance in order to show the multi-faceted and complex lives of Muslim women. The play’s success has led to its invitation to the Grahamstown Festival 2003.

Fresh of their support of US group Blackalicious earlier this month as well as a performance at the North Sea Jazz Festival in March 2003, Godessa will be making stops in the Netherlands, Belgium and the Slovak Republic. The group will be taking part in workshops in Amsterdam and Brussels as well as performances at festivals in all mentioned countries.

Join the celebrations where you will get a taste of At her feet and see Godessa performing for the last time in Cape Town before leaving.
