Well a whole new day has dawned upon me and it seems as if times fly. Just the other day I was a midget in high school fighting over that Digable Planet tape cos that damn Ladybug sista was so fly and they was kicking the real sh*t I was feeling. Does anybody remember “Where I’m From” or “Rebirth of Slick”?

Sh*t I still got a “Nickel Bag of Funk“, what, why when, where so many questions and still I don’t have no answers. My brain has gone back in time trying to relive that given moment that has passed and the outcome has been that there will never be another Digable Planet, but guess what to my surprise I hear the miss Bug Lady thingie is coming out with her solo sh*t so I’m a wait and see what that one will all be about peep the interview I did……

Damn its been ages since I last heard from you what’s been up all these lost years?

A whole lot to be honest! Just living life, nurturing my family and putting it into song form for my nu record.

I was pumping the Digable Planet cd a few weeks ago and went to Davey D’s site and saw you coming out with a new album?

You were? Oh that’s hot, thanks for the love.
Yes I am coming out with my solo album, you can check for it later this year on Nu Paradigm Entertainment.

Whats up with the other crew members of the now defunct Digable Planets?

I’m not sure what’s up with them. It’s been a long time since we’ve spoken.

When was it that Digable dropped what was the inspiration with coming with the jazz sound did Gangstarr have any any inspiration or perhaps a Tribe Called Quest?

We were definitely fans of both Gangstarr and Quest, however the inspiration to incorporate jazz samples came from our respect for the art form as well as love for the music. Jazz and Hip hop share many similarities.

Do you perhaps have a picture of how big Digable Planets was kids out in Africa pumpin that shit loud I can still remember how me and my boys fought over the tape?

Thanks for the love. I am looking forward to coming out there as soon as possible.

As a female emcee how have the evolution been for ladies rocking the mic seen through your eyes?

I remember growing up loving Roxanne Shante, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt n Pepa etc.. and studying their flow, their beats and relating to the respect that they commanded. They created a strong foundation for the female mc’s of today, whether they are aware or not.

Lets forward to the future now its been a hell of a long time I kinda lost my crush on you what’s been the inspiration for coming back to pick up the mic?

All of my inspiration comes from life experiences, the growth that takes place is very inspiring for me. It is my calling to create music, just like it is my calling to be a dedicated mother and mate. My departure for so many years was necessary in order for me to grow and be able to bring forth this new body of work for the world, for my fans.

Does the album have a title yet and what label will be pushing it for you?

Tentatively titled Rebirth of Mec. It is on Nu Paradigm Ent.

Any chance that it will hit the South African market or you ever coming out here cos you know everybody is hitting S.A up?

It will be my pleasure to finally be in the presence of my fans out there. When? I don’t know as of yet, but soon I’m sure!

I would like to say thanks to Felicia for hooking up the interview any final words from the Ladybug to her people in Africa?

I would like to thank everybody for supporting Digable, we never had the opportunity to come out there when we were together as a group, but you can be sure that I will be there to share my new record with you all, and we can enjoy it together. Love and Blessings
