Cape Town based Faculty of Hip Hop has released Vol 2 of their Ghetto Series CDs. 3 time African Hip Hop Indaba Award nominees, The Innovators have been included. They have 2 songs on the 12 cut CD, Timeless and 2 Questions. The later deals with the issue of xenophobia, whilst “Timeless” is a dedication to important figures in African Hip Hop’s history as well as telling the story of being a young & ambitious individual…

The Innovators are proud to be alligned with Faculty of Hip Hop for this, marking the eleventh release amongst the numerous mixtapes, major record company & magazine compilations, that The Innovators have been involved with or have released themselves independently. 

The Ghetto Bootleg Series is a project started by the Faculty as an attempt to spread a positive message in the hiphop community in South Africa and wherever the bootleg may spread. The series is a community bootleg project aiming at correcting the misconceptions of hiphop in South Africa, while at the same time giving unsigned hiphop MCs exposure. 

Copies of the albums are available by ordering from UCT Radio (during office hours – i.e. between 9am and 3pm), to order a copy for collection via e-mail, contact: bootlegs@facultyofhiphop.org.za. CD’s can be collected at UCT Radio. For alternative arrangements with regard to collection of CDs, contact 083 332 3785.

This series of bootlegs proves the following:
(a) hiphop does not need to be negative
(b) hiphop music can be produced at minimal cost.
(c) a parental advisory sticker is not a pre-requisite for a hiphop CD-cover.
