Head In The Clouds – Review
Set in the 1930’s HEAD IN THE CLOUDS follows the relationship of Guy (Stuart Townsend), Gilda (Charlize Theron) and Mia (Penelope Cruz). There friendship is threatened by Guy and Mia’s idealism. There’s also the love triangle, Guy loves Gilda, Mia loves Gilda, Mia loves Mia and somewhere along the line even Guy and Mia love each other.
The dialogue is witty, subtle and extremely funny even though the underpinning themes are dark and bordering on tragic. The acting is excellent all round which can be expected. The story is a good one and could have been epic but it might have turned out ostentatious.
HEAD IN THE CLOUDS is one of the most interesting films to come out however is a bit of a dare I say it “chick flick”. Not quite epic, filled with love before, during and after the war, and oh so tragic, well worth the watch.
