Saw – Review

30 April 2005 No Comment

Two men (Leigh Whannell and Cary Elwes) wake up in the secure lair of “Jigsaw” a serial killer. Jigsaw’s doesn’t kill his victims he puts them in situations that forces them kill other people to save their own lives or risk their lives with certain death to survive.

SAW’s strength comes from its plot. The actors weren’t really well cast, except to Cary Elwes and Leigh Whannell, and aren’t fully fleshed out, the plot drives the film and it works in its favour.

The story is really original and SAW would have been excellent if it had gone straight to video however the test audience were so scared by SAW that it was chosen for big screen release. It also happened to a make an unbelievable amount of money. It is worth watching even though it had to go straight to video because the ending has such a wicked twist. Jigsaw’s identity remains hidden until the end and it is a brutal end.
