MattBlack is compiling a book that will cover a wide range of topics all united by the context of the South African streets. Covering the early political stencils and slogans to gang markings and the culture attached to gang symbols. A major feature of the book will be the A-Z chronicle of graffiti artists with carefully selected images and text. The last section in the book will cover the street art movement which will feature some of South Africa’s best stickers, stencils and street art to date. The motivation of the publication is to credit the groups and individuals sculpting South Africa’s urban and cityscapes with their artwork. We hope to inform, educate and inspire people by documenting this elusive culture and in doing so, immortalise the work in print.

The deadline for contributions is July 1st 2005
Please email info@mattblack.co.za to find out the specifics of what we require and how to get your work into the book.
