Website traffic has soared since the debut of the print publication in March 2005. The print edition of VERBALISMS has successfully attracted new readers while simultaneously increasing its current online readership. The site received 8,000 hits in March, with the majority of visitors coming from the US and Canada. Last year the magazine announced it would be shifting from online to print and has been garnering much support from both female and male readers around the world.
VERBALISMS Magazine has a busy year ahead, as a series of collaborative projects are officially under way. Editor-in-Chief, Raquel Wilson, is currently in talks to launch a series of ventures under the VERBALISMS brand including a mixtape featuring the best of female hip-hop talent from the underground scene, which is expected to launch in the fall.
As the only complete magazine about women in hip-hop, VERBALISMS is an open avenue for conversations and debates on how women impact and are affected by the politics, revolutions and lifestyles of the culture. Each issue explores and unites the ideas and sources that shape the mainstream and underground movements of hip-hop. VERBALISMS provides an irreverent, fresh perspective not found in any other lifestyle, culture or music magazine.
