2 Sides 2 Every Hustle – Zay

26 July 2005 No Comment

After generating success with ZAY’s debut album, Who Dat Is?, Hard Lyfe Records and Bombshell Management are set to re-release the re-mastered and reinforced Who Dat Is? – 2 Sides 2 Every Hustle as a Limited Edition Double CD on September 20, 2005. This move is seen as a way to freshen an already electrifying project, satisfying current fans and attracting new ones…

The re-release on September 20th seeks to boost sales of the original album including topping 3,500 units on CD Baby alone. Who Dat Is?: 2 Sides 2 Every Hustle is led by the double sided single ‘A Better Way’ followed by ‘Pump Ya Brakes’ produced by the multi-platinum beat maker Lil Jon and features SRC/Universal’s Grandaddy Souf on the B-Side. The single has already been serviced to DJs by utilizing record pools such as TJ’s DJ’s Record & CD Pool to further the street buzz. Plus, ZAY’s work can be found through Apple I-Tunes as well as Tower Records.

ZAY has fought through the dangers of the street life to pursue a musical dream. Discovered by the late legend, Uncle Al, ZAY created a large buzz with an ode to his native Miami, Florida named ‘MIA’ featuring J-Shin. The move attracted the attention of Lil Alex, CEO of a local label and eventually a deal. The two bonded and Lil Alex served as a mentor to the young artist. Sadly, Lil Alex was soon assassinated forcing ZAY to release Who Dat Is? independently.

Through all of his tragedy and triumphs, ZAY proudly re-releases his life for the public to sonically enjoy. He enlisted production from Lil Jon (Usher, Ludacris), Black Mob Group (PSC, Mystikal, Trick Daddy), Jim Jonsin (Pretty Ricky, Trick Daddy), Get Cool (David Banner, BloodRaw), and others to match the chords with his soul. Who Dat Is?: 2 Sides 2 Every Hustle provides several jewels including ‘Caught Up’ which speaks of his struggles growing up as a young dealer in the trap of the game. To ‘4 Eva Ballin’ featuring Smoke of Field Mob wishing upon a star to become a member of the haves instead of have-nots. The single, ‘A Better Way’ deals with the exasperation of always knowing that life is against you, but finding a new way to get out of the hole. Who Dat Is also mixes in club cuts like ‘Fire’ and ‘Pump Ya Breaks’ featuring Grandaddy Souf. Meanwhile, ‘You Tell ‘Em’ discusses his options after watching his hopes and dreams crash to earth. But, the key cut is ‘Hard Lyfe’ produced by Dale Babb featuring Kamikaze and Mel Johnson. It is the latest installment of hip-hop blues that delves under the skin and touches the bone.

With ZAY’s life on wax, he can now turn his attention to the things that matter most to him; his family and helping his community. ZAY is a newly married man with seven kids. His strong fatherly sense is why he feels it is so important to provide a positive role model to the youth. Through his Street Speaks program, he talks with kids to show a new way for surviving instead of the way he was raised. With this new attitude, ZAY has found a better way.
