MTV – Music Television today announced the premiere of television’s first hip-hop reality sitcom, “Run’s House” beginning October 13 at 10:30 PM (ET/PT), immediately following “Making the Band 3.” The second season of “Making the Band 3” premieres with a special one-hour episode on Thursday, October 6 at 10:00 PM (ET/PT). On Saturday, October 1, fans of “Making the Band 3” can get a sneak peek at the first half hour of the new season on MTV’s Overdrive…

On “Run’s House,” Rev Run (Joey Simmons) of Run DMC, must balance releasing his first ever solo album, “Distortion” in-stores on Oct. 18th, while raising five spirited children ages 9-21. The series captures the real-life drama and hysterical antics of the Simmons family which is comprised of: Run’s wife Justine, a former rapper/singer and loving wife and mother; Vanessa, 22, a Ford model, former Miss Teen New York and aspiring actress; Angela, 18, a straight A student and aspiring fashion designer; JoJo, 16, a talented rapper who loves music and girls; Diggy, 10, star of the basketball team and an aspiring rapper; and Russell, Jr., 9, the mischievous little brother. And just down the street from Run’s home live his brother and sister-in-law Russell and Kimora Simmons who spend time with the family.

“Rev Run is a living legend of hip-hop, who’s still making great music, but now he’s also the dad to an amazing family,” said Tony DiSanto, Executive Producer. “This series takes us inside his world…it’s a kind of a reality ‘Father Knows Best’ with comedy, heart, hip hop and drama, all under one roof at Run’s House.”

Last season on “Making the Band 3,” Diddy decided none of the girls were worthy of a spot in the band, but offered Aubrey, Malika and Aundrea a free pass to join the next round of competition in season two. In the new season, Diddy continues his search for break-out stars to compete against the three returning cast members who were given the opportunity to continue to fight for a coveted spot in the all-girl group. Living and auditioning under fierce competition, the girls are judged based on their dancing ability, vocal talent, star power and willingness to be part of a group. “Making the Band 3” ranked #1 in its time period among P12-34 beating all cable networks and reached more than 61 million total viewers.

“This season of ‘Making the Band 3’ will be different from any other,” said Lois Curren, Executive Vice President, MTV Series Entertainment. “Last season we watched the girls struggle under Diddy’s masterfully critical eye, but this time around he’s raised the bar and pushes the girls to a whole new level to make the ultimate all-girl band.”

Russell Simmons, Stan Latham and John Davies serve as creators and Executive Producers of “Run’s House.” Sean “Diddy” Combs is Executive Producer. Jac Benson is Executive Producer. Jason Carbone is Executive Producer. For MTV, Tony DiSanto serves as Executive Producer and Liz Gateley serves as Executive in Charge of Development.
