Javier, Mamie’s boyfriend suggests that they film him and his life as a sex worker about massage and ‘happy endings’ (when a man is having sex, yes, that kind of ‘happy ending’) instead.

Martha Cooper has the reputation of being the first and foremost photographer of emerging Hip Hop culture in New York City. However, the Hip Hop culture is just one of Cooper’s many photographic fortes. From 1977 to 1980, Martha Cooper was a staff photographer on the New York Post. She worked out of her car, driving to assignments around the city’s five boroughs. Alfred Burgess aka B-boy Bennie wins 3rd World Breakdance 1 on 1 Champs in Germany this weekend. Yes, thats right, 3rd in the World and from Kuils River on the Cape Flats. Alfred is a 17 year old breakdancer that has represented the South African team 4 times. Last time this happened was in 1997 when Black Noise won 3rd at the World Team Breakdance Champs in Germany. “The paper begins with an explanation of the concept of Empire, which is sited as being particularly helpful in a discussion of hip-hop in post-apartheid South Africa. South Africa continues to deal with the economic and political consequences of apartheid while also having to deal with the demands of global capitalism. According to the paper, the use of the term Empire alludes to the complex ways in which power is manifested on the global stage.
