An urban action thriller with a sexy 21st-century Bonnie and Clyde. Ex-con O2 (Tyrese Gibson) is suddenly plunged into a life-or-death situation; trying to go straight for the sake of his young son Junior, O2 is forced to go back outside the law when Junior is kidnapped in a carjacking. His son is now in the hands of a vicious criminal leader, Meat (hip-hop superstar The Game). O2’s shady cousin Wanna Be (Larenz Tate) is caught between loyalties, and so the only person who can or will help O2 now is wily street-smart hustler Coco (Meagan. Good). With the clock ticking down, the heat between them rises as they become a lawbreaking couple, on an action-packed tear through town to save Junior and outwit the underworld. It opens April 28th. Announcing his new musical home, musical superstar Prince has signed an exclusive recording agreement with Universal Records, it was announced today by Doug Morris, chairman & CEO of Universal Music Group, Mel Lewinter, chairman of Universal Motown Records Group, Monte Lipman, president of Universal Records, and Prince. His first release on Universal Records, an album entitled 3121, is set to debut in 2006. Concurrently, VH1 will today shepherd the first audiovisual installment from his forthcoming album, the Salma Hayek-directed video, “Tè Amo Corazón” (“I Love You, Sweetheart”), marking the world’s first-ever multiplatform worldwide exclusive premiere of a music video.

Landmynz Entertainment has finally released the long awaited street mixtape, Perigo Minas Vol 1. The mixtape, which will be distributed for free, contains new as well as previously released material from LandMynz, Dungeon Shack, Konfab, Afronaut, BlakRhoze, Subzz, 3WR, Spaceman, Han Dolo and Snazz D.  The aim of the mixtape is to promote a culture of collaborations among local hip-hop artists as well as to grow the mixtape market in South Africa as a vehicle for promoting new artists and their music. That’s right, Snoop Dogg is coming to South Africa.  He will be performing in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban along with guest stars Mario, Rihanna, Caribbean Queen plus a couple of local artists.  Johannesburg on April 27th (Johannesburg Stadium), Durban on April 29th (Absa Stadium) and Cape Town on May 1st (Green Point Stadium).  Check Computicket for more details.

Blacklisted Media proudly announces the promotional CD release of Tshwane-based Hip Hop quartet, Ba4za (pronounced “Bafoza”). Ba4za consists of rappers Maliq, A.Q., Hakeem and Killa M with beat-extraordinaire Nyambz on production. These four young, black, muslim rappers formed the group in early 2004 and have since crafted a sound that is a unique mixture of conversational rhymes and soulful compositions. The result is ground breaking, quality music bound for both critical and commercial success. Ba4za’s first order of business is the January release of the aptly titled debut, The E.P. Welcome to Eureka – The CoverBoy Era. Tebogo Motsie a.k.a Eureka, from Botswana, attained his lyrical skills at the age of 16, in a small town called Francistown. His first real project was an EP titled, “The Idiom” on which he collaborated with Apollo Diablo a.k.a Billy Blunts. Shortly afterwards he moved to Cape Town and whilst there he released another EP titled “the First Glimpse” which had South African community radios abuzz. He used this as an opportunity to enter the mainstream hip hop industry and he hooked up with Papa Zee, a Lesotho born producer and owner of Struggle Entertainment ( a Hip Hop Label)…

Heal the Hood Project is offering 2 creative Cape Town youth the opportunity to win a trip to Sweden and raise money for their schools. Heal the Hood Project, the brain-child of Emile Jansen of Black Noise, has sent many young artists to Sweden and Germany as part of an ongoing self-funded exchange project. In 2006, Emile and Black Noise will tour schools throughout the Western Cape to encourage creative youth to follow their dreams and to be proud of being South Africa and African. Emile views the lack of love for Africa and lack of South African identity as the root of many ills in society, including crime, child abuse, pollution, teenage pregnancy, drug addiction, the spread of HIV/AIDS, disrespect for elders/ teachers, lack of jobs and many other issues. This tour will address and expose these connections in an exciting and entertaining way. The tour is labelled "Buy South African, for South Africans" and is planned for February and March 2006…
