Moshito 08 takes place from Wed 10th – Sat 13th September, and interested delegates can now  register online, via fax or at the Moshito offices in Newtown.

Moshito ’08 will introduce an exciting new element in the form of a partnership with WOMEX, globally recognised as the premiere World Music Expo on the global music calendar. WOMEX will be co-developing sessions on the Digital and International Environments with Moshito – and this is just one of the many exciting working relationships that Moshito ’08 will boast.

Key themes for 2008 are: New markets, Technology, Live Music, Piracy and Socio-economic development.  Subject matter experts from around the world will be giving up-to-date information and sharing experiences with their South African counterparts, for the benefit of participants at Moshito 08.

Delegates will have access to the full spread of activities at this year’s event, which includes plenary sessions featuring keynote speeches, breakaway sessions which allow for more focus on the issues being discussed and the popular “Hot Seats” where controversial – but important – topics affecting the South African music industry are put in the spotlight.

Alongside the conference, an exhibition will take place, showcasing a wide spectrum of private and public organisations from the South African music industry.   Informative and relevant panel discussions, extended hours and a variety of fringe events means that Moshito ’08 is a not-to-be-missed event for all industry stakeholders.

The project is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Gauteng Provincial Government, Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation.   Moshito also enjoys the ongoing support of the City of Joburg and the Department of Arts and Culture.

The public will be able to attend open information sessions and master classes on Friday September 12th and Saturday September 13th as well as the fringe events (featuring live performances) that will take place in the Newtown Precinct during Moshito ’08.

Moshito aim’s is broaden the business intelligence of music industry professionals, strengthen business networks for participants and inform delegates, traders and the public about the multifaceted and dynamic nature of what is truly a global cultural industry.

The cost to attend Moshito ’08 is just R500 for registration which gives delegates entrance to all days of the conference, as well as the Delegate’s Cocktail Party on Wednesday 10th.   In addition, the fee gives access to various fringe events that will be taking place in Newtown.
