HOSH.. hoe sal 'n man an kan wysraak?
once again it's weekend...
urbantainment... IN YOUR FACE!
URBANTAINMENT is late - so repeat after me...
"F-U-C-K---T-E-L-K-O-M F-U-C-K---T-E-L-K-O-M F-U-C-K---T-E-L-K-O-M
F-U-C-K---T-E-L-K-O-M"
unfortunately... this week sees the last of ghetto fabulous...
when asked why... here's what some of the readers say:
I have resorted to just picking out specific sections of
the publication to read and I definitely don't do Geto Fabulous
anymore!! reason being that it is degrading to women and every little
comment made about a woman is made in derogatory manner.
That shit ain't cool. We are living in a society where we are fighting
hard to change mindsets as far as respect is concerned. Instead of
talking about fucking a bitch or a ho, how about giving something more
valuable?... As a woman I hate to read in the words of some fucker who
seems to think he is God's gift to woman (and has probably never ever
had a real woman in his life yet) calling me, my sisters and my mother
ho's and bitches... all because he has made the route and now that his
dick ain't stickin' in anymore suddenly those sistas are ho's
Think about it... how can anyone who has a mother and sister say such
degrading, devaluating, humiliating, hurting things about woman like
that? It comes across as some underground Chauvinistic Movement rather
than Urbantainment... if you guys can keep that in check (and if Oop
Daddy can keep his joystick steady in his pants), it would be a cool
complement to what you are doing with Urbantainment.
who the hell cares about which sista in the hood
is the cause of his wet dreams? ..from the dip-stick research I've been
doing it seems as though Black sistas read Urbantainment more than any
other women of colour - so fuck that!
we're trying to build somthing here that includes everyone not trying
to determine who is more fuckable than who among the sistas of CT!!!
If you keep Geto Fabulous, it's cool too coz it means I'll just keep on
skippin' it!! Thanks for a good publication Motswako..Mad love n'
respect...
- RECORDING ARTIST
Here's the beat...I appreciate you sending me urbanentertainment, I
find the info very useful... But, What a gwaan with the getofabulous shit?
a combination of urban and geto fabulous creates an oxymoron.
How you gonna give such shit a platform man? This character, Oop Daddy,
in my opinion is someone who perpetuates stereotypes for eg.
(1)sistas are sex symbols and only good for fucking
(2)brothers are physically strong, macho males who has an IQ and EQ the
size of a white man's dick!
This bra, Oop Daddy, sounds so empty and just takes up webspace.
The shit he comes up with is so lame and to defend himself he hits back
quoting some sickass American EMCEE's lyrics..he's not even original!
I grew up in tha geto, I know what its like there, even though I don't
live there anymore I counsel clients which force me to relive that
experience everyday!
YTies were socialized to be racist even if they are trying not to
consciously, unconsciously you are feeding that racism with food for
thought everytime you kick some sick ass story about yo sistas or
brothers.
Black people were socialized to be inferior and self-hate was instilled...
So, if you continue this sick stront...your black readers will internalize
this sick fantasy that sistas = sex and brothers=big dick and no brains.
Delete "ghetto fabulous" !!!
- PROFESSIONAL PSYCHOMETRIST
I would not keep it unless it REALLY ads value. The way I see it, it only
serves to make URBANTAINMENT more bulky. Also the negative feedback due to
the
writing style is a nuisance that you can do without.
The focus, mostly US(AMERICA) focussed is out of place in URBANTAINMENT
which is
a practical guide to the SA Urban Entertainment scene. I can actually have
something to do with what is in URBANTAINMENT, but for GF, I cannot say the
same.
I think GF should be an entity on it's own for those who just cannot live
without
knowing what the writer read in the Source, WWW sites etc. about US Hip Hop.
The info is not even original, it's taken from sources not even mentioned.
You both could get into trouble for this. If this was my UT, I would only
include
GF if it makes me money and if the material is original of paid for, at
least.
- DATABASE PROGRAMMER/WEBMASTER
Thats just too much - what bullshit - support women in their careers by
talking down to them? By talking about how hot they look in their
clothes/out of their clothes - damn - thats not support - thats lack of
support. If you want to support "our" women read a book and then start
talking about how they are furthering in their careers - not how they look
in hot pants. You're killing a great concept.

receiving it...

AFRICAN BATTLE CRY 1999
THE 3RD ANNUAL 17 DAY HIP HOP/YOUTH EXPO WILL TAKE PLACE FROM THE
26th NOVEMBER TO 12th DECEMBER 1999
Black Noise and The South African Hip Hop & Youth Network will be
hosting 17 days of hip hop workshops, concerts, jols and appearances
throughout the Western Cape. African Battle Cry is aimed at exposing
the positive alternatives and talents of youth. This years events will
start in the Western Cape and move northwards to P.E. and Gauteng.
The event was developed to supply youth with positive activities
because gang violence and drug dealing have left youth with very little
positive choices during the December vacation. We wish to focus on
anti-racism and anti-violence in communities by having discussions and
interaction. We will also have Swedish & French Capoeira artists doing
workshops at these events. The City of Cape Towns, Arts & Culture Forum,
Spectra Spraypaint & National Arts Council are funding the daily
workshops.
The opening event is at the Observatory Recreation Centre on the
26th November 1999 and hosts the Semi-finals of the breakdancing
competition. The workshops at the same venue will kick off at 15:30.
Each day will have hourly workshops on breakdancing, spraycan art,
capoeira, DJ'ing, MC'ing and panel discussions on the music industry
and artist management etc. At 8 o'clock a jol, competition and
performances will take place. Winners of the competitons will win
clothing, videos, magazines, CDs and boxes of Spectra Spraypaint. Each
day has a cover charge for the jol/shows. Accomodation can be arranged
for out of town visitors.

*INTRO
--------------------------------------
THIS ISSUE OF GETO FABULOUS IS DEDICATED
TO THE N***** THAT WAS DOWN FROM DAY ONE!
"Nowadays everybody wanna talk like they got something to say
But nothin comes out when they move they lips
Just a buncha gibberish
And muthafuckas act like they forgot about ...
who brought you the first urban music magazine and e-zine in SA!"
--------------------------------------
*PLAYA-TORIAL
--------------------------------------
"HA HA HOLLER AT A PLAYA DOE
YOU CAN'T TAKE US ANYWHERE
COS WE WRECK SHIT
YA MAMA WARNED YOU ABOUT US
SO TAKE HEED DUDE AS I PROCEED
TO GIVE YA WHAT YA NEED
I GOT EVIL IN MY EYES SO STAY OUT
MY WAY AS I AM NOT RIGHT AND NOT LEFT
B**** THIS AIN'T NO WYCLEF
THIS IS OOP'S AN MOTSWAKO SHIT
IT FEELS LIKE THEY WANNA TAKE ME OUT
I'M IN A DEEP PIT AND I CAN'T GET OUT
MY LIFE IS FLASHING BEFORE ME
WHILE THESE YOUNG ******* ADORE ME!"
This past week I came to realize that the world is about to end. Why
you may ask am I saying this. Well everything seems to be going right,
except for a few things. Ja but anyway. Peace out to Bongani for
playing me and Craig, Dr. Dre's STILL D.R.E. last Friday on Good Hope.
Not many dj's will do that. Ya know most of y'all got EE-GO'S
Jislaaik there is a lot of mofo's out there that has got their knives
out for me. Shit, am I that ill? To all my critics and those who are
sort of got my back. I would like to recommend that you watch RUNAWAY
BRIDE, because Richard Gere's character, Ike Graham is going through
the same shit like me. Everybody can't wait to read the next issue. But
he pisses half of them off, while the others applauds him. In the end
he had to make a crucial decision. And he got fired! Ja so wat nou.
I wonder who is gonna take Ithumeleng's job now as editor of Y?
Larry I am available, get your people to call me, maybe we can work
something out.

A certain lady by the name of Carol-Anne responded to last weeks Geto
Fabulous. Unfortunately I lost her response somewhere. Here is mine.
dear Carol-anne
Those women who appeared on the cover of FHM has bared more in public
than these two women. Your crooked attitude towards them is to my
knowledge regarded as playa haterism, a disease that saw you
not responding to our proposal last year from the Mobshop. Girl
you done played yourself out. And I put that shit on my mama!

How can Master P drop such a week album like ONLY GOD CAN JUDGE ME?
He could at least brought in some big name producers or just drop
his greatest hits like he what supposed ta!...I'm really impressed
with milk daddy's website. It's called Africa's gateway and it's da
bomb yo! http://lightning.prohosting.com/~africa99/index.html
...Arthur has left
CCP/EMI to go it all independent. His latest album is available through
Reliable music...I received a copy of Chiskop's new album on Wednesday
and Motswako got his last Friday so it's the only disc we are pumping...
I recently checked out the Rage website and I came across a story about
POC getting a new lead rapper. Mr. Devious' name was mentioned. Well
according the article Elouise is gonna be the new POC rapper. Hey I
know I ain't got no say in the matter but next to Shaheen, Marco Polo
from Drinkalot Records is the tightest out there...Remember Marco Polo
is making a comeback in 2000!...One of the hottest artists for the year
1999 has been Juvenile. His last album '400 Degreez' went
triple platinum and his B side single
BACK THAT AZZ UP became a summertime anthem. Apparently Juvenile
believes in striking while the iron is still hot as he getting set to
drop his third album 'Tha G-Code'. It will be released on December
7th.. That's same release date as the highly anticipated Notorious
BIG album. I wonder who will sell more? Juvenile's first single
U UNDERSTAND is out now in the US.
Finally be on the look out for the Cash Money Records upcoming straight
to video movie BALLER BLOCKIN'. That should be dropping around the
first part of the new year...

Artist: Dr. Dre f/ Eminem, Phish, Xzibit
Album: Dr. Dre: 2001
Song: What's the Difference
[Eminem]
Aight, hold up hold up!
STOP THE BEAT A MINUTE!! I got somethin to say
Dre; I wanna tell you this shit right now while this fuckin weed is in
me
(The fuck?!) I don't know if I ever told you this, but I love you dawg
I got your motherfuckin back, just know this shit
[Dre] Riiight? .. Slim, I don't know if you noticed it
But I've had your back from day one, nigga let's blow this bitch
[Em] I mean it dawg, you ever need somebody offed - who's throat is
it?
[Dre] Well if you ever kill that Kim bitch, I'll show you where the
ocean is
[Eminem]
Well that's cool, and I appreciate the offer
But if I do decide to really murder my daughter's momma
I'ma sit her up in the front seat and put sunglasses on her
And cruise around wit her for seven hours through California
And have her wavin at people (Hi!) Then drop her off on the corner
at the police station and drive off honkin the horn for her
Raw dawg, get your arm gnawed off
Drop the sawed off and beat you wit the piece it was sawed off of
Fuck blood, I wanna see some lungs coughed up
Get shot up in the hot tub til the bubbles pop up
and they nose and cough snot up, mucus in hot water
That's for tryin to talk like The Chronic was lost product
That's for even THINKIN of havin them thoughts thought up!
You better show some respect whenever the Doc's brought up!!
So what's the difference between us? We can start at the penis
Or we can scream, "I Just Don't Give a Fuck," and see who means it!

*****DR.DRE*****
Last week saw the release of Dr. Dre's new album. And it cooks! Yebo
Yess! Dre is back and he is bad. It is not a classic like The Chronic
but it has it's moments. Dre is also for pioneering the live funk sound
in rap. This method in his production is still being used by the good
doctor.
