Following the official release of his sophomore LP, Everything Changed Nothing, Trek Life serves up an inspiring aftertaste with new single, “Ready to Live.” A cathartic expression through rhyme, Trek uses the track, which serves as the album’s first song, to pay homage to loved ones lost and the infinite future to be found. “Life is hard man/ No life is easy/ No life is exactly what you make it/ Believe me,” professes the young emcee. Providing an unassuming quality to the LP, “Ready to Live” is a standout track that highlights Trek’s most genuine emotions and adept word painting abilities.

Roach Gigz’ new video for “Magic Gas”, off his recent mixtape Roachy Balboa, is, appropriately enough, set in front of a gast station in his hometown of San Francisco. Shot by frequent collaborator Aris Jerome on what looks to be a typical California afternoon, prominently featured is a sign emblazoned on the side of the station proclaiming “Smile, you’re in SF.” While Roach doesn’t do a whole lot of smiling in the clip, his flow is so constant that his gold grillz seem to always be on display.

On Erk Tha Jerk’s Hood Nerd 2: Memoirs Of The Invisible Man, Erk ends his first song, “One In A Million Freestyle” with, “The mixtape free, no charge it’s on me/ These throw away moves, you can keep the music.” He’s being modest. While the mixtape may be free, Erk’s flow really shines. His vocals have range; his command of each song allows him to rhythmically switch up his rhymes, making each song unique.

In the brand new video for “Mr. Perfect,” the lead single from The Niceguys’ forthcoming debut album The Show, the only thing more energetic than the lyrics are the performances. The clip presents itself almost as a private concert, with the entire Niceguys crew doing what they do best in an abandoned warehouse. Considering the level of enthusiasm and vigor in the group’s live act, it isn’t surprising to hear that, even in the 95+ degree conditions that the video was shot in, the group held nothing back.

While producer and all-around artist Quazedelic has played a crucial role in the Snoop Dogg’s music behind the scenes, a full on collaboration between the fonk monk and Doggfather was destiny waiting to be fulfilled – until now. “Hold On,” off Quazedelic’s upcoming debut LP Stan Sly: AnuthaWorld, has the artists combining their smooth, similar styles from separate genres for the album’s first single. Similar to Snoop Dog’s appearance on of The Gorillaz’s Plastic Beach, the result is soothing combination of funk and hip-hop that takes listeners to another place; in this case, Anuthaworld.
