The festival included an entry from South African filmmaker Sharmin MacKay which "documented the birth of Hip-Hop as an art form in South Africa". But check this and I quote, "The rappers in the film spoke nearly perfect English..." Excuse me? Don't they think African people can speak English properly? Also when they asked the filmaker "What did they think of the movie when you showed it back in South Africa?" the filmaker said, “Actually we haven't shown the film in South Africa because it is too controversial. Government censorship is still a big problem back at home." LOL for this. What is this person talking about? We have Hustler magazine, we show porn on late night TV, we show hard hitting documentaries about Apartheid, corruption etc on government TV and at select Cinemas, so what censorship is this person talking about?
