A criminal (Laurence Fishburne) who is in collusion with corrupt cops is arrested because they couldn’t kill him. He is then transferred to another prison to make sure he isn’t killed in jail but it’s during a snowstorm so the prison bus has to stop at Precinct 13. Its about to be demolished and the only people on duty are two policeman (Ethan Hawke and Brian Dennehy) and a secretary (Drea de Matteo). After the prison bus arrives at Precinct 13 so do the corrupt cops to kill everyone...
Ethan Hawke seems to be playing a cop again; this time he has emotional problems and a pill popping habit because of a drug bust gone wrong. Laurence Fishburne is a bad ass Machiavellian hitman/gangster who makes it known he will only be keeping someone alive as long as they are of use to him. They are the main leads, though tight directing, a good story and lots of action fuel the movie. There are a few down sides to ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13, Ja Rule is in it but on the bright side he dies (though not soon enough). ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 is one of the best cop action thrillers to come out in a long time. It’s a cool movie and everyone in it except Ja Rule is cool, we’re talking Ethan Hawke, Laurence Fishburne, Gabriel Byrne, John Leguiziamo and Brian Dennehy. ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 won’t change your life but it will be entertaining, very entertaining and very cool. CAST: Ethan Hawk, Laurence Fishburne, Ja Rule, Maria Bello, Peter Bryant, and Gabriel Byrne DIRECTOR: Jean-Francois Richet RUNNING TIME: 103 Minutes AGE RESTRICTION: 16 LV GENRE: Action Thriller RELEASE DATE: 27 May 2005 RATING: 8/10 “Differs Totally From The Original And Is Very Cool” Review by Punjabi_Goth for Africasgateway |
