Metabolism was born in the Eastern Cape and is now living in Cape Town (Khayelitsha to be more precise). He has been writing rhymes since 1996 and says his “biggest challenge is trying to perfect the art of syllable play within metaphors and all”. Read on for more info and an audio snippet…
The Bio (in his own words): My most exciting gig in 2005 was when I performed at the second Druge Dialect at Vudu Lounge were I had to awake a packed crowd. The name Metabolism was adapted from a biology class and so I took the concept and applied it on the mental, breaking down concepts and projecting them to ears at a rapid rate. I have been through 4 crews like Skunk Squad in the mid 90s, converted it to Troop Fellowship. I was then involved in Nomadic lyricists, which gave birth to Platoon Dungeon Dwellas. No progress was made so I went solo in 2003. 2005 is a new era were I have met up with Saturn and we have been hard at work on the E.P called “Theatre Of Lyrical Enginuity”. Saturn, who has also been producing for roughly three years is easy to work with on the project. Not only is he involved on beats, but he designed the cover and does photography for the group as well. Based in Mowbray, his home serves as a hub for production for the whole album. "My inspiration comes from different emotions". All my man Saturn needs is some "brew", smokes and his computer, and then it’s down to business. Saturn, born and bred in Cape Town, a producer slash skater finds time to fulfil both his passions and to make time to have a few drinks at local hip-hop spots. His likes are making the beats and buying vinyl's to construct the beats. Now, with the album, in its completion stages, I have also been involved in another project with the likes of Konfab, Vernon Viscus and Stimulus to form Writers Block. Inspiration comes from all over, locally and internationally, from peers to known mc's overseas like Bigg Juss, Doom, Saafir, Redman, Micranots, Co-Flo and many others.
