Born and raised in rural Eastern Long Island, James Rusch discovered his love for music. From playing bass and singing in rock bands, to pounding the pads on a drum machine, a passion began that would sculpt him into one of the most diverse Hip Hop producers. His energy, drive, and love come through each beat like a finely EQ’d instrument as he carries out God’s will...

Influenced by the rapidly growing urban market in the early 90’s and the collaboration of metal bands and rap groups, Rusch slowly began turning his ear towards a market he initially despised. His metal/hardcore band adopted a few rap cover songs into their set and shortly after, Rusch was strictly making Hip Hop music. With a bass guitar, a Casio keyboard, a Boss drum machine, and a Fostex four track, his pursuit began to find some aspiring emcess and R&B singers.

After years of hard work and development, Rusch found himself in a position to purchase a recording studio at the completion of his four year degree at Marist College. In 2000, Beyond Fiction, Inc (production/recording) was born. Partnered with Platinum Hits record store, BFI grew to be the most influential entertainment company on Long Island. From Radio shows to emcee competitions, concerts, to charity events, J.Rusch and company’s popularity began to buzz through the streets of New York City.

January 2004 was a time for BFI and Rusch to expand their horizons. Four years of producing and recording local talent had given him the experience and development needed to take his craft to more ambitious levels. With the acquisition of the Bronx’s emcee Blackout and a new partnership with 920 Entertainment, .Rusch’s cipher became complete. Within the year he was dropping tracks for Tragedy Khadafi, Cormega, Foxy Brown, Barrington Levy, and a new roster of artists on Universal Records. The Summer and Fall of ’04 also brought numerous Hot 97 spins from Kay Slay and Green Lantern and an interview with on Hiphopgame.com as well as other websites.

In 2005 the grind doesn’t stop for J.Rusch. His music story is already 13 years in the making and the most groundbreaking opportunities are only just beginning. Keep your ear tuned to the streets as 2005 projects develop and 2004’s production work becomes 2005’s hottest beat placements.
