'Hip Hop Colony' the documentary film, takes you through the journey into the heart of East Africa, Kenya. A former British colony where hip hop has firmly established its roots. 'Hip Hop Colony' takes an intimate look at hip hop, while establishing it's genesis in Kenya...
If you are experimental and cultural, here's the long-awaited film version of an African story. This is a story that does not involve tragedy that is so often associated with the continent, but yet talks about issues that affect a global nation. All this is executed, using Hip hop as a voice. Did you believe it? Did you even expect it to come from Kenya?...Probably not! Michael Wanguhu and Emerge Media Films have literally “broken it down”…..They thought of it, and made the effort to write and produce a film that tells the world to stop, and recognize, that Africans have talent and that hip hop is indeed universal. The premier of this documentary was an eye opener. Kenya is on the map and you can experience it by watching “HIP HOP COLONY” A continent that is usually seen as hopeless has made something out of nothing! RISE TO THE OCASSION!
