This year Urban Voices in Cape Town will present not only spoken word and poetry, but music as well. This year's international poetry line-up is one of the finest and includes poet and musician Carl Hancock Rux (US) and the legendary Last Poets, also from the US, who have played a pivotal role in the development of the performance poetry movement...
Date and Time: Sunday, 24 July, at 19:30 Price: R140 Book this at Computicket 25 July, from 15:00 to 16:00 The "Godfathers of Hip Hop", The Last Poets, will conduct a poetry workshop together with other poets in the Baxter Sanlam Studio on Monday, 25 July, from 15:00 to 16:00. The focus of the workshop will be on The Art of the Spoken Word, and the audience will also get to learn more about what makes these legends of Urban Voices tick. 30 July (Concert Hall) These acclaimed international artists are highly regarded for their exciting collaborations and well as for the solo performances. This collaboration will be specially arranged for Urban Voices 2005. Monty Alexander is a renowned jazz pianist and, together with the acclaimed guitarist Ernest Ranglin, will certainly present a spectacular concert for both jazz and reggae lovers.
