It all begins in a small Oregon town, when shy Sam (RORY CULKIN) confesses to his protective older brother Rocky that he is getting pummeled daily by the towering school bully, George. Rocky then puts a plan in motion to get revenge by inviting George along for a boat trip in the woods. However as the day progresses Sam gets to know George and feels sorry for him. He tries to call the plan off but things have spiraled out of control already.
MEAN CREEK deals with many issues from morality, revenge, friendship to responsibility and is going to be a classic. There are also so many talented young actors in here that bring a lot to the film. Rory Culkin is good, like his brother Kieran (IGBY GOES DOWN) and even Macaulay (SAVED) it seems some things are just genetic. Carly Schroeder’s (Milly) performance is chilling when she gets her chance to shine, and then there is Ryan Kelley who pulls off the edgy on the verge of dangerous performance. It doesn’t feel like it’s only 85 minutes long because there seems that there is so much content and depth, MEAN CREEK is dark, brilliant and captivating.
