Alfred Burgess aka B-boy Bennie wins 3rd World Breakdance 1 on 1 Champs in Germany this weekend. Yes, thats right, 3rd in the World and from Kuils River on the Cape Flats. Alfred is a 17 year old breakdancer that has represented the South African team 4 times. Last time this happened was in 1997 when Black Noise won 3rd at the World Team Breakdance Champs in Germany. Last year Ubuntu won 6th at the World Team Champs...
Heal the Hood arranged for Bennie to go to this competition after he put back into the hip hop community by travelling with Emile to Port Elizabeth and East London to teach dancers in those communities. It is success stories like these that we need to hear more of from the Cape Flats, instead of all the skinner, drug and gang stories. We have always known that we have world class talent on the "flats". Alfred Burgess aka Bennie returns home at 07H05 on Tuesday morning. We are inviting people to come and welcome him home on Tuesday morning and celebrate positive people from the Cape Flats ... See you at the airport. For more information call Emile at 082 3958125 or (021) 7060481 www.healthehood.co.za
