Born Greg Lawary in Centreville, IL ,harsh reality hit Gena at the age  of four when his father disappeared from his life.  So his mother took the family to South 53rd in Centerville, Illinois to live with family.

Childhood days in church sparked his passion for music, but a summer night at Six Flags, as a 13-year-old watching Jermaine Dupri play to a packed arena, ignited Gena's Hip Hop fire.  He started developing skills around town at talent shows, skating rinks, school events and house parties.

When Gena and his cousin Wayne saved enough cash from hustling and mowing yards, they cut a demo as "B.G and Exodus" which snagged the attention of fans and St. Louis DJs.

Tragically, Wayne died just as their star started to rise. Crushed by the loss of his cousin, best friend and partner in rhyme, Gena ditched rap and turned to basketball, but seeing artists like Nelly get signed inspired hope and a fresh beginning in tribute to Wayne. Genases!

No producer fit Gena's distinctive style, so he took up producing for himself. Within a year, he had written and produced his first album, pressing 1,000 copies and flooding the East St. Louis market. Momentum carried him across the bridge to St. Louis where he started opening for big acts such as Nas, Twista, Field Mobb, and Pastor Troy.

After releasing the club banger "Dope Boy Fresh", f/Kyjuan and Chingy, Gena continued to build on fans throughout the Midwest region. In September of 2007, Chingy hit up Gena to do a song  for his new album (St. Louis N*ggaz) and even though the song didn't make Chingy's album, it took off in the St. Louis streets and continued to increase his buzz! Now, with managers ZEEK and Jeff Dixon, Gena's plans are
finally taking flight."
