Recently we spoke to one of the up and coming labels from Tacoma Washington. In this interview they touch on Young Krime's album which will feature Bushwick Bill and Marvaless. We also asked them the typical AG questions and as always got interesting answers back. Check it.
So can you start off by telling us who Felony Entertainment is and what artists you got on your roster? Felony Ent. is a label by felons for felons we on some anti jail type living. Felony entertainment is made up of Our CEO Ms.Jessy, Young Krime, Awall and The Dou of Strapp & Ammo. You guys are from Tacoma, what can you tell us about the scene out there? What scene? We are the scene out here besides Bow wow Records but other than that the rap music scene in our city is very limited. What can you tell us about how you grew up? Well I grew up in Seattle Wa, Beaumont Texas and then we moved to Tacoma Wa. I was raised up in the projects most of my school days, I played football, hoop and baseball as a youngster. Your new album features the legends Bushwick Bill and Marvaless. How did you hook that up and what was it like working with them? Well about BushWick he actually called us out of the blue I guess his peeps ran across us on the intertnet and was interested in us as a label and was trying to shop an BushWick album..Some time went by and we realized that he would be a perfect match with me on my song "Military Tactics". So my manager gave his manager a call and we set things up and the rest is history....Now about Marvaless I needed a female rapper on my cut "Heavy Doses" so I thought to myself who would be perfect no other than the first lady of West Coast rap Marvaless..So we did a little searching and found Marvaless. She was down with the idea so we hooked everything up then within a week she was on the song ripping it as usual. Marvaless is real cool peeps be on the look out for her next album Ready Made coming soon.. Is there anything you regret doing in this game? For sure I have recorded on a couple albums and been jerked for my cash. I also wish I would have knew the game better than iIknew it 5 years ago. I would be on a whole new level. What Northwest artists you feeling? Well of course I'm really digging my ace on the label Awall aka Kaiser, be on the look out for the Northwest Nugget. His debut solo joint. Other than him I'm feeling Syko, All Street Level Records artists, Skunt, Birdie, Sarkastik, Assassin G from Tacoma and a few more I can't think off the top of the dome I'm blowed right now. But yall watch out for our new group Strapp & Ammo coming 2004. What artists outside of the NW are you into and who would you like to work with in the future? I'm into of course the new sounds of 50 Cent, I still love Pac, I dig Jay Z And Scarface. What are your favourite foods, hangouts and drinks? Soul food, Gumbo,Greens etc. My favorite hang out is on stage. I don't really hang out no more. I'm working too hard. My favorite drink is any dark liqour or kool aid. What is your main reason for making music? It's my life it is where I run to when I'm stressed when I'm sad when I'm happy it is my way to stay sane and also release feelings, worries, problems ya know. What is more important to you, money or respect? That is a hard question. I think you need to have both at the same time in this world we live in today so I would have to say they are both real important to me. Did you have close shaves with death? Man many times but the Lord needed me here for something and I think it is to spread the truth thru my music. Because I was supposed to be gone in 2001 when I got shot in Seattle Washington. If God gave you one day on earth how would you choose to spend it? I would be begging for his mercy and asking him to let me into heavens doors. Who does the production for your albums? I co-produce my music and our artist's music with the very talented and respected producer in Tacoma Wa, Jonathan C. In terms of production what is it exactly that you look out for? When we do our thing we want tracks that we would groove to if we were a listener. In terms of lyrics what are you focusing on? I know you heard this millions of times from others but I drop reality true to life topics with a lil ghetto fun included all in all I have fun on the mic. What are your favorite books and television shows? No favorite book because I only read when I'm on lock and I have been a good boy so I haven't read anything in a while..My favorite show is OZ. In terms of shows/gigs/touring what's gonna be happening this year? We are down for whatever. Who ever calls if the deal is right we will be on stage. We also will be hitting the road to promote the Product Of Da Ghetto Album. How is your website doing? Where was the strangest place you got an email from? Glad you asked me that we are doing real nice online people from all over the world been hitting us up from Africa, Isreal even Slovania now that is strange for us to believe it. What was the strangest thing a fan has ever done? Let me see the funniest thing that has happened to me is a Fan thinking I was Jo-Jo from Jodeci. When you wake up the morning? Check my emails twist one up then start my workout shower then smoke then I'm off to school. What would you say makes your album unique to the hundreds/thousands of album being dropped today? Originality, I touch topics that the main stream artist and big labels shy away from because the truth hurts so all in all I bring the truth with this album. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us down here in Africa. Do you have any last words or shout outs? I just want to thank you for this interview and yall check us at www.felony.net |
