Paarl / Cape Town, 26 March 2003

Cape Town based Afrikaans Hip Hop group Kallitz (pronounce "Coloureds") will be live on stage at Club Mercury in Cape Town every Wednesday this coming April, supported by well known MC, graphic artist and beat boxer Marco Polo.

Performance dates at Mercury are 2, 9, 16 and 23 April 2003, doors open at 21:00 hours and the entrance fee is R 10.

Together with the Mercury gigs, Kallitz performed seven times in two months, since they signed a management contract with Mel.Vent Communications, who also manage KGB, whose debut album "The First Born" was nominated "Best Hip Hop Album of the Year".

Says band leader Dokter: "We are currently working hard on our debut album so its quite hectic to fit in all those live gigs. But it's also fun and it promotes our forthcoming album, which will sell for under R 50 - true to the tradition of our label Mothermix Records."

In a first for the South African music industry, patrons at the Mercury gigs will be able to place pre-orders for a limited edition of Kallitz' debut album, signed by all group members. The unbelievable price of R 48 plus package and posting is in line with the policy of Mothermix Records to "bring music to the people at a price they can afford".

Up on stage together with Kallitz will be well known Cape Town MC, graphic artist and beat boxer Marco Polo, who looks back on a 16 year career. Hailing from the dirty, rough ghetto of Steenberg he formed his first group - Nearly Hype Clan - in primary school and later joined MPA.

Marco Polo was instrumental in the success of Black Rhyme Organisation of the Kaan Society and facilitated grafitti workshops at CAFDA. He wrote and produced the soundtrack for the Italian documentary "Hard Living Kid" and
released an EP in 1998 with South Riders.

He currently works with Rality Asylum who have two underground hits playlisted on Bush Radio.

Kallitz will be playing songs off their debut album, which will be released by Mothermix Records later this year.
