Mr Marco Polo

Undoubtly one of South Africa's best and only true original freestylers, Mr Marco Polo is also unfortunately one of the most difficult people to get hold of. We did a few songs together, from our stint in the South Ridaz project to the Steenberg Underground project. Mr Marco Polo always knows how to flow and comes up with the most funniest freestyles ever heard. What we like most about him is the ability to do it even better in Afrikaans. Although some people (so-called hip hop purists) are too scared to admit it, he is definately a threat to their careers. I just wish someone had the money to invest in this guy. By the way, he is also a good graf artist. Q. So Mr Marco Polo where have you been all this time? A. East Timor Q. Doing What? A. (laughs) I regrouped with a new crew call Karaktas vannie Vlaktes. Q. Who makes up Karaktas vannie Vlaktes? A. Adenaan Martin, Yusie and Marco Polo Q. Have you written any songs yet? A. Quite a few songs Q. What's the subject matter? A. All round, versatile stuff, skills and about community upliftment, songs for the youngsters. Q. We got a competition running on this website where you can win some prizes, Tebz from 5th floor sent us a dope rhyme, do you want to compete? A. Sure. Q. When can I get it? A. During the week, mos def! Q. What happened to the Steenberg Underground Project? A. It's still in the underground Q. I heard that Jerome and yourself had a few shortcomings? A. What type of shortcomings? Q. Preach told me you was a bit upset about the setup? A. We had a difference of an opinion. Q. But I suppose that's water under the bridge and you still gonna complete it? A. Most probably in the near future. Jerome is working at a new studio. This week he recorded a jazz band. Q. Will the Southridaz ride again? A. I just need a few horses and saddle bags. And then we can move out. Q. Where, to the wild wild west? A. no to the east my brother, to the east. Q. Oh you mean Gauteng? A. (laughs) Durban PE, Gauteng all that other funny places. The breeding grounds of wack mc's. His manager Ferd The pimp with the loot Isaacs says that MFO's must watch out for Marco's solo album coming in March 2000. Q. Hey Marco, Who do you think is gonna take it to the top? A. (silence).... I really don't know? Q. You supposed to say you muthafluffa! A. People know man, the truth is out there! I'm back with a vengeance, never was away really!
