Detroit, MI – April 4, 2004. Urban Muzic Zone Records is pleased to announce the signing of prolific underground rap artist, MC Breed. The Flint, Michigan rapper, who is known for his hard-hitting confrontational style, debuted in 1991 with “Ain’t No Future in Yo Frontin” and released roughly an album a year through 2001s, “2 for the Show.”
MC Breed garnered industry accolades with “Funkafied,” his 1994 release which hit Billboards R&B Top Ten charts. The label, which bowed last week, has scheduled the Breed offering for a September release. The untitled CD will feature new studio tracks and will include a previously unreleased Tupac/Breed collaboration. UMZ is posturing to become the current day version of Motown Records, and will be developing all forms of rap, hip-hop, R&B and old school acts. “UMZ in 2004 intends to be what Motown Records was in the 1960s – the home of the best that urban music has to give,” Hill emphatically explains. “We refuse to be pigeon-holed. We have developed a great marketing and promotional team, and with the current state of the industry, well, the sky’s the limit.” Distribution will be via Red/Sony Distribution in the United States and Canada, and Proper Distribution in Great Britain.
