I'm of the opinion that one can only truly appreciate the art of graffiti if you’re a spray-can artist yourself. I have been a follower of Hip-Hop for a long time, but still my knowledge of graf has remained is limited. So in effort to get me open on this often misunderstood aspect of Hip-Hop, I decided to check for more mags, books and also search the net regarding this subject.
Underground Productions, is my first Scandinavian magazine I have had the privilege to check out. And I can tell you that heads in Sweden have and still reppin hard. This issue features interviews with graf artists from Sweden, with flix of some walls, but mostly trains. I guess that's what inspired the magazine's logo. Although there's not much text, the piece on Tony Silver, on his Style Wars dvd release and interview with Adam Bhala Lough on his film about graf called, Bomb the System, definitely compensates and makes issue no. 26 a collectors' item. www.underground-productions.se KOLD STONE |
