The Black Eyed Peas have confirmed their first ever performances in South Africa to coincide with the nation’s celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Democracy...

The two concert events, sponsored by 5FM Music Radio and Edgars, are being produced by South Africa’s 206 Productions, and Real Concerts, in association with the U.S.-based, Thirty-Three Productions. The performances are scheduled to take place at the Coca-Cola Dome in Johannesburg on November 20th, 2004 and at the Bellville Velodrome in Cape Town on November 23rd, 2004. Tickets are on sale now through Computicket www.computicket.com

“The band really made a direct effort to ensure that this tour happened,” says Tony Feldman of 206 Productions. “Over the past 3 months of negotiations the one overriding factor was the bands’ personal commitment and passion to perform in South Africa.”

“206 Productions offered the perfect opportunity for the band to perform in South Africa,” says Christine Hansen, President/CEO of Thirty-Three Productions. “The Black-Eyed Peas music crosses cultural, racial and geographical boundaries worldwide. They are extremely representative of what South Africans have to celebrate.”

Members of Black Eyed Peas, Will.I.Am, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo, and Fergie are famous for their incendiary performances. Throughout their near –10 year career they’ve earned fans worldwide with their inventive approach to hip-hop, inspiring people with loose rhymes, a positive spirit and a deep funk vibe.

They recently won a 2004 MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography in a Video for “Hey Mama”, appeared on the internationally televised MTV Europe Video Awards, opened the 2004 Brit Awards, while also receiving two nominations for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for "Where is the Love?” at the 46th Annual Grammy Awards. The Black Eyed Peas also performed at the ceremony.

The band’s most recent release ELEPHUNK has reached multi-platinum status in 17 countries worldwide with the help of a string of top 10 U.S. singles including “Where is the Love?”, “Hey Mama”, and “Let’s Get It Started”. The band’s much anticipated 4th album “Monkey Business” is due for release in early 2005.
