Born Joe Anthony in Baton Rouge, La, DJ Marquis began his career as a DJ at heritage radio station WXOK. He transitioned to KQXL and segued to WEMX as Mix Show Coordinator where he prepares shows five days a week at the 5 p.m. hour and has the hottest mix show on Saturday nite from 10 p.m. to 12 mid. Simultaneously DJ Marquis has a guest spot position on WRJH, Jackson Mississippi and KVLL in Texas. DJ Marquis also host a 30 minute video show called Southern Hospitality which showcases local and national artist.

DJ Marquis recently "rock the boat" aboard the Carnival Cruise Ship "Imagination" during Positive Productions and the Abstract Group's Urban Professional Labor Day Getaway in 2001,2002 and 2003.

A 1994 graduate of the southern University in Baton Rouge, La, DJ Marquis received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University majoring in Mass Communications and minoring in Management.

DJ Marquis is an active member of the community and has developed the JH Foundation: a non profit organization whose mission is to help fathers build better relationship with their kids. "I believe that the key to healthy development in a child is the active participation of father's in their lives," said Marquis. DJ Marquis- who has an enormous passion for children- is also in the process of launching the DJ Marquis Book Club whose purpose is to prompt elementary-aged kids to read more. In addition to school visits an extensive community involvement, DJ Marquis is also a member of the Lambda Kappa Kappa Chapter of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated.
