Yo with all the studying there's so little time to read but err, i've recently read:

The Revenge of Mimi Quinn by Shirley Conran (almost made me forgive)

Some unauthorised Zuma Biography

The dream deffered (Never finished it)

Biko Lives: contesting the legacies of steve Biko edited by Andile Mngitama et al.

I'm a follower of the "New Frnak talks" atricle/essay series by Andile Mngxitama and like minded thinkers so I read a lot of articles by him/them such as the one that came out very recently called 'Blacks can't be Racist", to it I say Amen.

Comprehending Karl Max by some Marxism sceptic I've forgotten.

I've also read a page from the Communist manifesto

I'm currently reading Petals of Blood by Ngugi wa Thiongo (I know I'm late but hey, I'm a young lad).

But best books I've read are: the wrath of the Ancestors, The Godfather, The partner by John Grisham and A grain of Wheat among others.

"Why was the worker shot? Because he protested... Why was the negro shot? Because he was there. This is the gratuitous (without cause) violence against Black people that so called pure marxist can't comprehend" Frank Wilderson.

I suggest you finish reading the manifesto and dump that Mngxitama bullshit.

I hate those things. Biggest load of dogshit ever.

The Communist manifesto is a very good read, and a lot of it is still relevant to this day. Too bad it also has its shortcomings. Try reading some Bakunin and take from both him and Marx in order to get a true picture of how socialism can work.

not sure about the title but it was published last year sometime, something to do with the Constitution i think. Ruffled quite a few feathers in the letters page after that and then Ferial Hafajee did an interview with him asking him why he is so angry  :D

i just finished jimi hendrix's biography.
"a room full of mirrors" by mr cross.

while jimi had an interesting , wild , frustratiing life i dont think the book did the chaos justice.

i also finished the autobiography of charles mingus which was hilarious and abviously included more fiction than fact.
he tells tales of his pimping days amongst other things.

can anybody recommend a good autobigraphy?
i also found the leadsinger of RHCP'S autobiog the best i have ever read in this genre.

@ Motho and the Panic:

Andile Mngxitama has written a series of articles, the series is called "New Frank Talks"
The 1st of the series was titled "Why steve Biko would not Vote"
2nd was titled "From Mbeki to Zuma, What's the difference?"
Now this 3rd one is called "Blacks Can't be racist" basically provoked by the whole Black Journalists forum thing last year. You can cop it at ritual for R20 bucks, the cats are doing the self publishing thing.

You can also check out www.wewrite.org but it seems the website was last updated in 2005 or so. Also google "Abahlali Basemjondolo" and see some work there.

At "Me" (yes you), thanks for the suggestion but I do not understand you dismissing Andile's writing like that, his arguments actually make a lot of sense. How much of his work have you read? Why exactly do you call it dogshit?
