1. Introduction

Classic Dirt is a compilation tape by San, the Instru-Monumentalist (who hails from Lesotho) and Phil, the Kritik (who hails from Uganda), two beatmakers/producers currently stationed in southern Africa (Lesotho & South Africa to be precise). The project in simple terms can be explained as the end product of like minds, the consequence of understanding the musical and artistic benefits borne from international relations. Classic Dirt brings together on one record, some the world's finest emcees, producers, vocalists and poets to wax lyrical with prowess over production by the Kritik and the San.

LOL, peace ma nigg...aight, let me see if i can satisfy your inquiries 

THE COVER: aside from the obvious reason that we wanted the cover art to represent the almost symbiotic relationship KRITIK & I had when making this album, we chose it because it immediately serves to convey a sense of "oneness" in being (the collaboration and what it sets out to achieve) coupled with a uniqueness and synergy in execution (this signified by the two minds, one body analogy).

Over and above that, we liked the almost fossil like angle the designers took because we felt it successfully channeled how we feel about Hip Hop collaborations, especially those of the producer - producer kind...we find that they are rarely about the lessons each brings to the table first and foremost to his/her's fellow producer on the record, then secondly to the listener as much as they often end up being about who bests who on the record...a misguided concept that often results in the individual producer's reputations eclipsing the overarching aim of the album and renders its memory short lived... (the cover art was designed by the Audible Braile Entertainment Graphics Dept.)

Nawty P appears on the album Courtesy of ONLY THE ILLEST, a group of artists, business men & women with head quarters in Pretoria, South Africa.

Note :Information on the individual artists and how we were fortunate to have them appear on the album will be contained in the album's liner notes, to be made available with the album upon release.


and as for the "Peace" signs u see on the sleeve...LOL, well, the "peace" signs, aside from one, are found in front the names of producers whose recent and past music directly inspired CLASSIC DIRT's creation. They are people whose music we respect and use as inspiration on a daily basis. It was a great privilege for us to have them on the record and get their blessing, it spurred us on.

as a little side note, aside from being an incredibly talented producer, CYMTOM & I go as far back as the Primary school days, hes my nigga for real, its a blessing him & i still keep in touch and continue to share and evolve in our passion, look out for him on the tape 

WHEN IS CLASSIC DIRT DROPPING?

the FULL album will first and foremost be put in the hands of all the artists on the album, two days from now (as an advance). following that, 3 days from now, it will be in the hands of the Press (citizen or otherwise: bloggers, magazine editors, website owners etc)...

after they have had their EXCLUSIVE...we will announce a release date...!

ARE YOU GOING TO SELL IT?

NO, the album is not going to be sold...at least not yet...it will be DIGITALLY DISTRIBUTED across the internet and will be available for FREE DOWNLOAD...!

without trying to go too deep into our business strategy on this record, let me just say, KRITIK & I are producers, we understand more that our music's worth should not only be able to guarantee us an added fan base but it should also guarantee a return business...and as producers, OUR BUSINESS IS MAKING BEATS, and in our current business climate, we make more revenue from the sale of one beat than most people do on the sale of their entire album...(i can elaborate more on this for those interested via PM  )

so for us, selling the record is something we feel we can only do on a feasible and profit orientated level if we build the project up as a brand first. as a brand, CLASSIC DIRT will not only command more demand for album hard copies but it will also open the doors to the sale of merchandise to accompany it...!
