Much love and Respect to Blacknoise, Emile and the rest for consistently organizing these events.

Alot of ppl hate and criticize the indaba.... but i think they deserve praise.
Might make a turn.. Maybe i'll enter...if i can scramble a set together in 24 hrs

Putting a show together and pulling off a good show are two very different things.
But let me wait til after I've checked it out before I criticise coz i can only base my opinion on last years show at this point.

The Beatboxers were skilled.
They were the most entertaining for me and put on quite a show.
Can't say the same for some of the deejays and MCs.
Peeps are supposed to come prepared with but some just ended up embarra**ing themselves. Some emcees were just taking chances, trying to recall prewritten rhymes but getting stuck after one sentence, yes we gotta start somewhere, yes not everyone is a battle emcee but please yo, i paid good money i wanna see a good show.

ASD, well done for making it as far as you did, i left B4 the MC battle was done.

The indaba is an important platform  and its great that they manage to get sponsors and put a show together year after year and not doubt, big up to emile and all involved.
But the standard is not stepping up. maybe I'm impatient/too critical etc but something was still lacking. Something is still amiss there.

Yah, most of them had written stuff, and i can safely say i freestyled the whole way, thus i can accept the fact that i lost. I just got nervous when i battled that cat from Durban in the semifinals. Yet again i didnt like their battle ethics coz they were always attacking mothers and getting personal and they ended up battling against the opponent's mother and not them, but well done to that white guy with the school pants who won. I expected more people to come. Naturelle, did i meet you yesterday? If i didnt, why didnt i?

all i can say is that ... i have gone to the HHI for the last 4 years ,and every year it get's worse , the whole set up is tired , its the same thisng every year.and i know i'will get burned for not getting in volved ,and all i do is talk( blah blah) but screw that , the facts are that the event is getting smaller and smaller , and every year i dont really wanna go.every year they rip off 50 cent and the state of hip hop that is not 'real" but what is "real" about the HHI...but enuff moaning...

Most of the MC's were not up to par .... Beat box'az wer amazing to say the least ...DJ'z well most of them sucked...but DJ Scratch tore it up ,the only bloke that actuall showed some skill ,and the "judges" still put him 2nd (dont trip scratch ,next year its ur's)

co sign that!

frankly, i think these cats need to come up with some kinda criteria, perhaps have auditions or something b4 they allow people to step on stage 4 a 'battle'.  I mean u can't jus take anyone who claims to be an emcee and put'em on the mic @ THE Battle Of The Year. That to me was not a battle, no,no,no.

I mean i seriously think that was the very first time in all my long years in hip hop that i've seen 'silent emcees' and fakers spittin writtens & bittens & the worse part is the crowd was goin buck wild 4 THAT SHYT... :o ?

remember the line 'u can't spit, so obviously must swallow'

u probably heard it 4yrs ago from his role model rapper, b4 u heard it from him on Saturday.

That cat kept biting lines left & right, it's jus sad that only a few of us were boo'ing him,

do u mean the same white cat that kept callin the black cat battlin him a 'nigga',

& where was he from? PLUMSTEAD?

i jus wanna big up to Loxionism, the cat from Durbs & ASD coz if anyone was battling @ all at that joint, it was these three cats.

And yo! by the way the b-boy competition was sick, i enjoyed that thoroughly, the Handbreakers were on point as usual & Hardcore Mentality killed it, too nice 4 starters...but sadly no b-girls this year. :(

Endzi you're actually right most of the cats there were actally biting. I dont know if you heard that 1st dude 'Emphis' he said "The only fan you got is the one on the ceiling". Isn't that Jin's line? And that dude who won said "If you cant spit you must swallow". That's from the intro track on the one Sway & Tech album. I wish i had the chance to expose these cats.  The MC winner never went to claim his prize. Pretty simple. And that one beatboxer snatched the mic away from his opponent while he was beatboxing and he got disqualified for that. That was also pretty simple. He could have won. It was only my first time there, but i liked it.

Props to Ice Bear, Mr Ray and Jesse Brown for their tight-a** beatboxing.
