Kev brown asks and then answers the same question bout beats by the boywonda...he says its perfection, when everything from the snare to the kicks on the beat accompanied by the sample and percusion feel as thou they were destined to be together, when they jell so perfectly (not even on the masterin front) the beat can stand on its own without even needin an emcee to aid its potency...

A dope drumline . Grand piano Keys.

Oh i been usin some Bra** Plugins there days , they dope

aight, from a production point of view i think its essential for a beat maker/producer to have a good ear for the music he or she's into. its not so much about knowing how to play an instrument, jus undastanding what kind o sound u want and being able to put it all together in a flawless manner. thats key...in addition studying, other producers, arrangers helps especially if u into samplin cos sum cats cant chop up a sample to save they lives...bump Questlove's lesson in samplin...ul be shocked at the theivin thats goin on out there...

Sup fellas
Firstly for me as an mc, i think what makes a beat dope is not on what you use, but how you use it.
Pete Rock; he can take a sample and bring that smooth ish that will make you want to tap a**.
E-lp; can make a beat so ill that you want to bump your head and look like an idiot.
Both producers are good in their field, but use different sounds to captivate the ears of one and all. Coming to my point, first feel your beat then dish it out. There are 100% of people in the world, 50% might hate that shit, but then you have another 50% to bump it to and they will be busting their speakers.
Peace

That special something. Thats what makes a beat dope for me. Some beats just touch you as soon as they drop. Its not exactly the elements in it, but that special essence within it. You either feel a beat or you dont.

Because with those 3 instruments you can create a complete beat without any sample, but that is if you know how to juggle those keys and slap the ba**.
