Seeing that you always have a lot to say about people via yo instigating account, how about you say it here....and who knows...maybe being a Mod you might delete existence of this thread....
NOW - U say your a Deejay.....for how long have you been a deejay? When last did you have a gig? How much do you charge? Any residency you holding? And since you get invited to press conferences, what radio station are you working for? Do you go by the DINGAAN name when deejaying? Are you what is called a mobile deejay or bedroom deejay? Since you know much about the Hip hop industy, what makes you think SA has that industry? Is it because you think all eat from eat? Do you think all made it a 9-5, if so, name drop please? Back on the deejay issue, I mean really, U 24yrs right, then when exactly did you start deejaying and what accolades do you hold?

Why is mixing with CDs such a bad thing? I understand the cultural relevance and sound quality of vinyl, but surely a DJ is only as good as his skills and not his material (in terms of medium)?
What if someone learning to DJ has no immediate access to vinyl, or has a large CD collection he wants to use? Surely if he's good enough, it doesn't matter what he uses?

How is it different? Honest question. I was under the impression the only difference was using a platter or inserting a CD and using the wheel on top to scratch and cue.

Mixing with CD's is cool,. This is where it becomes a contentious issue. DJ's with ma**ive Mp3 collections and a good internet connection are linked to every last bit of music that you would ever need. It becomes a moral issue, you are bumping tunes to crowds promoting an artists sound, in support and love for music, but if your whole collection is ripped from Limewire or ISO hunt, wheres the good in that?
The reason the older school of thought says "real DJ's play vinyl" is because they broke their backs getting the tunes they wanted to bump for the crowd on their next set. Clowns these days can download another peers entire collection in a week.
I love Vinyl, but I'll be the first to say its gonna die in the next few years. With the onset of simulated vynil software like Final Scratch, Serrato and Traktor it's inevitable, but PIRACY is still a ma**ive issue.
Another reason CD's aren't exactly inline with the true essence (in a hip hop sense) is scratching, unless you have an expensive pair of NUMARK CD-X's (set you back about R15000) its difficult to bring that original Hip Hop flavour to your set.

OK, that makes more sense. I'm getting the sense that it is more about WHERE you got your music from and HOW MUCH EFFORT goes into your set than your choice of medium.
You're right about DJs breaking their backs - literally, with them vinyl crates. Every DJ I've interviewed (and I've interviewed a lot) thanks their stars for Serato, every single one has said it has made their lives easier.

Putting more strategies in the 1st world to jump to the third.
Well, then you get the so-called elite in the so-called "hip hop" circles, looking into shitting everything that hustlers do. Saying they nothing. Who told them so? Does the hustler need to suck dick to be something...maybe that so-well recognized sucked dick too...just maybe...
