Title: Jaak
Post by: watziznehmegin on January 01, 2009, 05:38:48 PM
Hey D! Have you guys signed Jaak to P-Unit? If so, you guys are signing all the heat out of CPT! Feeling the movement! What will be the first P-Unit release to anticipate in the new year?

Valid questions. Also, what happened to that P-Unit vs Monopoly "accounting challenge"?

What's up Watzisnehmegin - happy new year!

Jaak hasn't officially signed yet, but it's just a matter of getting together and taking care of the paperwork. We'll do that in in the next couple of weeks.

We don't have a finalised release schedule yet, but you can expect full-length albums from Driemanskap, Jaak, The Realist and KONFAB in the first and second quarter of 2009. We're also working on some other exciting deals and projects which I'll hopefully be able to announce soon.

Well our books are sitting at approx. -R87K. We spent way more than what we made.lol. But in this game, you dont expect all your returns immediately. Its a good investment and the profit margin seems to be consistently increasing! Its small numbers, but positive growth none the less.

- In 2008 we have managed to build/upgrade our studios( The Crackhouse, my studio, and So Fresh's studio is now fully fledged and ready for production) to professional standards.

We boast a full editing suite( For music videos, DVD footage and our upcoming movie)

We have invested in more equipment for our music videos/movie as well so by the end of 2009, we will practically have NO COST to shooting a music video apart from "Locations/Sets"

We upgraded our website too.

We have set up our merchandising team(T-shirts,bandanas,stickers)

And of course we have done a lot of marketing this year and aggressively made our brand more visible.

Well worth the costs as most of these expenses are now solid a**ETS!

As far as GAINS, like I always say " Slow money is always better than NO MONEY" ;D real talk!

What are your figures looking like D? :)

just like cash, we spent a small fortune in 2008 (ħR200,000).

however we did do a couple of very nice licensing deals and made some money from sales so we probably came out roughly even. no profit but a lot of good investment.

we're going to continue to invest next year and hopefully continue to make some money. we have a lot of interesting international stuff lined up so I'm feeling pretty confident. my main priority is to put some money in the artists' pockets next year.

I can't wait, this year is gonna be dope, honestly, I believe both Crack Boys and P-Unit have the potential to get distribution overseas, slightly different demographic, but the quality level is there to reach markets and hopefully by the summer be able to hit the Festivals! I could see Sharpa performing at the Splash! Festival in Germany, Hip Hop Kemp in Prague, and who knows maybe even the Vans Warped Tour in the U.S. or something of that Nature,...

I believe Jaak could get distribution in the Netherlands as well, maybe through [PIAS] - Play It Again Sam or someone of that nature... as for the Crack Boys you might wanna try TJ's DJ's a pretty big southern Digital Record Pool formed by TJ from Tallaha**ee. I believe they are based in Atlanta now, but they do help break a lot of artist in the southern Hemisphere... all the best in 0,9mm!

Musicians wil start believing again. Audiences will follow.

If you can get this right, you'll be doing a lot more than just feeding artists.
