Title: VUZU TV
Post by: the panic! on June 04, 2009, 05:55:41 PM
so DSTV's launching a new channel aimed at a pretty interesting demographic - young urban and suburban black kids (not sure about this anymore - maybe it applies specifically to the Heard on the Street inserts).

what do you guys think?

here's their site. have a look at the Session videos. interesting viewing...

really? doing the same thing?

i'm surprised. no to offend but it just seems like your stuff's outdated, duke - and done. like early 2002/2003ish Jacka**, Dirty Sanchez etc. the whole jumping into trees, male nudity, pain for laughter thing isn't really that chic. i mean even Footskating and the whole Benoni thing's got next on this - and that's played out.

but i guess there's the appeal of it being South African and multiracial (?). and besides, they have to start somewhere, right?

big ups!

by the way, isn't Scar Tissue a dating game of sorts?

that whole clip was shot in 2002-2003... we bringing something new to the table... all original ideas and pranks cause what most people forget is, the pain factor is aiiight, but people also want to laugh now and again... (that's how you'll get your audience watching every week) so your prank game also has to be up...

i'm sorry but 'footskating' and 'crazy monkey' just made south africans look dumb and lame as f***... ::)

Nat, you still up for this? i decided to abandon my idea and draft - it's too male orientated in how it deals with black subjectivity, whereas i want it to be artist-orientated. but if you're still interested and can make it breathe a little easier i can mail it to you.

my influences vary according to the style i want to use when i write. but since i haven't actually made a film i can't tell you what comes out as having actually influenced my work.
