I'll probably catch wreck for this, but Tipping Point is still my favourite. Most accessible by a long shot. They're all good records though.

For me, their two top albums are:

Illadelph halflife
Things Fall Apart.

Cla**ics.

Everything b4 that is a bit too jazzy for me, and everything after a bit too experimental.

My Roots initiation started with "Things Fall apart"
Good album.
Read the liner notes and see if you can figure out all the subliminal references (numbered for your convenience)

also ...listen to this album with your headphones cranked up loud.
enjoy.

The liner notes on Roots albums alone make them worth the purchase price.

apparently iTunes is now selling digital albums packaged with digital artwork and liner notes.
I think Blueprint comes with some "extras" when you buy the whole album on iTunes.
Sounds like a gimmick to me.
Whats it worth to you?

This means The Roots are live on TV every night!!

(on the other hand they are kind of playing second flute to Jimmy Fallen,... The Roots should have their own show live every night!!  ;D ;D ;D )

If you go back and/or listen to those albums for the first time, chances are you wont like the entire album. A few songs will stand out from each album. If you wanna have fun with The Roots, check out... Homegrown: The beginners guide to understanding The Roots.

These are collections of their greatest hits.
