I’m gonna drop this project I actually wrote and recorded in a week while living in LA last summer before I did “The Antidote”. "Despite having one of the shorter careers out of their contemporaries, the El MidaZ Affair were one of the biggest groups of the early 1970s. Comprised of lead vocalist Javier El MidaZ, drummer Willie “Knuckles” Johnson, ba**ist Bobby “Too Tall” Willingston, guitarist K.C. Anderson, backup vocalist Rasheeda “Bird” Jackson, horn players Jake and Drake Wyman, and keyboard player Guter Jivelbergen, the group earned their reputation on the chittlin circuit as a must-see live act, playing festivals, state fairs, and jook joints across the south.
By the time they signed a record contract in 1973, the group was at the height of their buzz. But things took a turn for the worse. Studio sessions were tainted by drug use, alcoholism, and an unprecedented pinball machine addiction stirred inner turmoil among the band members. Though a full-length album was recorded, the band split up before it could be released and the project was shelved indefinitely. The members of the El MidaZ Affair moved on to new phases in their life, while El MidaZ himself became a recluse, never to be heard from again.

I was completely oblivious to the Khmer Rouge and the horrors they put their people through. I made this record to hopefully raise awareness to this, and to put the power in your hands to do research and find out for yourself, what our government (America) did to the people of Cambodia, and what our involvement in Cambodia gave birth to. Okay, go research, and learn…. off my soap box…all the beats on this record were made with Vinyl that my Girlfriends father brought over from Cambodia years ago, and gave to me. I will forever be in debt to him and his family for taking me in and teaching me about Cambodian Culture. This record is for them.

true, id really like to hear that as well....teh major criticism MARCO has been getting from the HEads HAS been his so called inability to really go beayond a signature sound and create something less predictable, in that way, his beats are criticised for being a bit too similar...dropping two albums in one year (where he produces all of them by himself) should be a test of that DIVERSITY....!

well to be honest, the year is off to a VERY VERY SLOW start...i know we hve been promised albums to COME, but i wouldve liek to see some NICE albums dropping in JAn jsut to scare us...but alas, its the first of the month and we might just see a turn around...
however, all is not as stagnant as we might THINK...on the MIXTAPE FRONT a lot is being done...
having formally introduced himself to the majority of HEADS in 2008 with his debut LP "each dawn i die" that saw production from PREMO, BUCKWILD, DJ JOHN JOHN and a host of other incredible PRODUCERS, LITTLE VIC is set to drop his sophomore offering "AUTOPSY" very soon...if anything just to prove that the hes packing more of that HEAT we heard in the 2008 underground cla**ic...
but before that, he is scheduled to drop a prelude to that album and will call it "SUICIDE MISSION"...

here is a review i liked, turns out RUBEN SOLARES a blogger i follow wasnt impressed, all the same, im still checking for it 8):
"Don't call it a comeback: the Wu never really went away. Regardless of demand, members of the legendary rap outfit have been consitently releasing music since their cla**ic debut in 1993. Ever since last year, when Raekwon released the much celebrated follow up to his cla**ic Only Built for Cuban Linx (the cleverly titled Only Built for Cuban Linx II) it signaled a sort of rebirth for the group, and subsequent releases by individual Wu-tang members would seem to suggest that we are in the midst of some sort of a 'Wu renaissance'. Makes sense then that the three 'lead' members of the group, Raekwon, Ghostface, and Method Man are striking while the iron is hot by repackaging themselves as a super-group called Wu Ma**acre.
With Meth, Ghostface, and Raekwon doing an album together, expectations are understandably high. Wu ma**acre unfotunatley falls a bit short, mainly due to some of the production. The album seems rushed, and even with it's short length, plauged with filler. The other issue is that it seems obvious that the wu knows the formula for success and sticks to it so arduosly here. One of the many instances of them going back to well is the album opener "Criminology pt. 2.5" in which the sample a different break from the same Black Ivory song as the original. It's a strong opener but nothing amazing. "Our Dreams" which features Alicia Keys along with its echoing guitar wahs and wind chimes just sounds hollow and sentimental. It slyly recalls Ghost's cla**ic "All that I got is You" and seems to exist just so they can check "Jackson 5" off their list of tropes to trot out once more.
Wu ma**acre even includes a couple skits that it could have done without. "Ya mom's' in which Method Man and Raekwon play the dozens, follows Meth vs. Chef pat 2 (yet another sequel). Tracy Morgan, (or is it Chico Divine?) implores to a woman to start turning tricks for money on "How to Pay Rent." It might be worth a few listens if the skit were actually funny"...

first up is SUPER PRODUCER MARCO POLO....first to really make his presence felt on his album PORT AUTHORITY, hes been a formidable force in hiphop production circles ever since, working with such acts as TORAE, BUCK SHOT, RUSTE JUXX, DIAMOND DISTRICT and a buncha ova people...word is hes workin on droppin a solo on that a**...he calls it "the stupendous adventures of marco polo"...
i dig the cover, im listening to the OFFICIAL LEAK and its not extra-ordinary, but GRAND DADDY I.U commands attention with those raps...

pardon the late reply....in case you hadnt recieved any information since asking the question...the answer is really YES & NO...
to be more precise, one would have to understand what DJ MUGGS & SOUL a**a**INS represent in LA and what BAMBU as an emcee represents in the community therein. to clarify, BAMBU dropped his album "PAPER CUTS" in 2010 (this was supposed to be his FINAL album before hanging up the mic)...not too long after that, the album, produced by his DJ, DJ PHATRICK landed in MUGGS' lap and he (MUGGS) dug it deep. they then linked up and worked on what would be BAM's crowning acheivement before retirement, to WORK WITH MUGGS ofcourse, but not just work with him but get to adorne beats made famous by super emcees.
so the album is really a mixtape since it uses beats we all know (safe for one, specifically banged out for BAM) but it is an album in the sence that it doesnt preceed anything, it fittingly marks the end of a talented spitter's career.
however i must add that since speaking to BAM, he has indicated that he will be back on the MIC DEVICE after two years of hiatus to drop another album, something he will call "TWO RIFLES PER FAMILY"

while the homey ILLMAS is logging things up nicely on the "ALBUM of the YEAR" thread, i thought id continue to keep youl posted on upcoming albums, like i said somewhere before, this year has been a very very good one for HIPHOP 8)

Our new album “Violence Begets Violence” drops October 25th. Some of you have heard by now that this is the first Jedi Mind Tricks album we’ve made without Stoupe handling the production. Bottom line is at some point after making our last album, “A History of Violence,” Stoupe lost his pa**ion for making hip-hop and wanted to try new things.
Through our career, we’ve always waited on him to get inspired to make a new album, but this time around we got tired of waiting out his creative drought. He tried to produce some things for this new album, but we could tell early on that his heart wasn’t in making JMT records anymore. He’s moved on as a producer to work in other genres with his sideprojects, Dutch and Vespertina, and we’ve moved on with a new crop of talented producers to make the hardcore hip-hop we’ve always been known for.
We’re reinvigorated and we feel like these younger, hungrier kids put a battery in our back. You deserve the best music we can make. Stoupe made great albums with us, but he’s moved in a different direction as a producer, so we decided this was the best move for us to make sure we give you guys the best music we can.
Regardless, Jus and I feel like we made a great record. I’ve made plenty of other albums with other producers. You guys know AOTP. You know my solo shit. Some of you even said that my solo album was the best work I’ve done to date, including all of the JMT albums. Don’t worry, that cla**ic hardcore JMT shit is coming on October 25th. Just trust me. I’ve never let you down in 15 years. Give us the benefit of the doubt and listen to “Violence Begets Violence” with an open mind.
The music business is crazy right now. Most artists disappear after one album or one single. We’ve been fortunate to have a 15-year run, which could’ve never happened without you guys…our fans. The last thing we want to do is to try to pull the wool over your eyes, so we wanted to let you know upfront about Stoupe, but also let you know that we’re still Jedi Mind Tricks…we still are, and always will be, making hardcore shit no matter who mans the boards.
