"I never sleep/cos sleep is the cousin of death".
Yesterday marked the 17th Anniversary of Illmatic (19.04.1994)
I believe that warrants a post.

^^ we can argue all day about this one.
My question for today though is why is no one here commenting on ELZHI's ELMATIC? It dropped just a few weeks ago and I say it is a worthy contender for album of the year already. They re-did the beats live and probably because of that it sounds fresher than the concept of re-doing a 17 year old rap album sounds on paper. Check it out: you can download it for free!
This year is great for hiphop. Good music just keeps dropping lately.

cool review fahfee, me I was so freaked out at how Elzhi did an album almost as good as the original. Illmatic is one of the best ever, f*** it it's the best ever and Elhmatic is one of the best of recent years.

Well employing the services of the music band Will Sessions was a great idea. Their live music set brings a new dimension and freshness to the very familiar melodies. The production therefore escapes sounding dated and then as a special treat some of the songs are extended with longer interpolations from the sampled tracks such an on Life’s a Bitch (featuring Royce 5’9) where after the muted horn solo the band breaks into the cla**ic Roy Ayers’ sampled track –nice touch. The same goes for the next track “One Love”.
Preach brother preach.
Will Sessions did the d*mn thang on the cla**ic beats. Loving the project so far. Contender.
