Title: Advice needed: Purchasing a midi keyboard
Post by: J-oNE/Pat-B-Rick on June 10, 2011, 04:21:36 PM
So ye, I found this 2nd hand midi keyboard for a really good price on the internet. It's a 49 key, can't remember the brand but the only catch is that it's ten years old. Now with most hardware I understand that age isn't really always a problem but Im a bit worried because the midi system might be outdated and not usable/efficient on DAW's from today... Is that a valid point or am I just being paranoid?

10 years sounds too old in my book but then again I had a DJX for quite some time and it worked fine with an m-audio soundcard because the MIDI standard hasnt changed that much.
I am looking at getting a AKAI Keyboard/MPC sound-pad combo once I really get started with beat-making again.

short story: older will probably work but newer will be a better investment.

MIDI will have to last
Like the engineer who coined http://
It's not necessary today, SABS
Them set the standards.. cop that if all keys
Respond pressure sensitively.
