What do you guys know/ think about this situation? I started seeing tweets about it a few days ago. Then last night / this morning American twitter started going bezerk and that's when I finally read up on the dude.
As far as I know he's sentenced to an execution that will be happening tonight (19:30 in one of the American timezones) for a crime (shooting a police officer in 1989) where there isn't conclusive evidence to support his conviction. Only eyewitness testimonies, some of which have since been recanted or changed. Smells like a bullshit situation but I'm only working with a few reports I read during the course of the day.
Anybody know anything more?

Reminds me of Tookie, one of the founders of the Crips
and what he was accused of. I think most of us know how
his trial went.......
-
Yeah I was thinking about Tookie last night when this was on my mind. Really f***ed up. And the question on whether Twitter blocked Troy Davis from trending yesterday is still out there too
-
Mumia Abu-Jamal is next. No one is gonna stop this shit.
R.I.P. to the brother (Tookie as well).
-
It was too little and too late for Troy Davis.
Thing is there was even less evidence against him than say Mumia but he still died first.
That greying thinning man Obama said anything yet?

Don't even know how to comment on Obama anymore.

I'm starting think that maybe it isn't the average
citizens that has that certain racism, but also within
the Supreme Court ! When Casey Anthony,
a white mother who was accused of killing her
own daughter was declared innocent, white people
as a whole were pissed. It seemed like black people,
(except Jamaicans) didn't give a shit because we knew
what would happen if the accused was black.

I didnt know about the Troy Davis Story until I saw Uncle Rush's article over the weekend. This makes one sick to the stomach. Reform!
-
its interesting the expectations black people have of Obama, like he HAS to ride in and save when ever blacks call, you must understand the man leads a nation with a political system that has very complex undercurrents.
i feel sorry for him more than anything.
with that said i dont know much about the Troy Davis situation, ive tried to find out but not nearly enough to form an opinion. May he rest in peace, and if he wasnt supposed to die, the universe will correct itself.

Wow. How?

I'm more interested in Chris Mahlangu not goin to prison. Save Chris Mahlangu
-
You serious?
-
Chris Mahlangu is the ET murder accused right?
-
yep
-
So...why would we want him not to be imprisoned? a**uming he did the deed...
-
Why I asked if he's serious. Is murder cool, because it was Eugene?

Well, 2 years after the Casey Anthony trial, the state of Florida does it again when they declare
George Zimmerman a 29 year old Latino male accused of murdering a 17 year old Black teenager, innocent under the "Stand by your ground law" (self-defense). He was said to have been stalking the teenager but he claimed that he was under suspicion of the teen, as Zimmerman was part of a neighborhood watch program. He called the police and they told him to leave the teen alone, but refused and went to attack the kid....the rest is history. The sad part is that a Black woman was trying to defend herself under the same law and got 20 years in prison :
