Finally gave this a full listen. Well after all the hype I went from indifferent to expecting a cla**ic. Well I can safely say it's NOT cla**ic. Solid effort nonetheless.
NaS is actually on point most of the album. Got his fast flow back and good scripts. The deficit comes from the production team which makes the first half of the album pretty much hit or miss.
Just my take after the first listen.

Accidental Murderer!!! is the track of the year for me...even Rick Ross comes tollerable on this..i think this is the first Rick Ross i have heard...real talk.
Monday after i have played the albumn to death will i have my final verdict...far from cla**ic however.

This is a very good album. This is for us "Trapped in the 90s nigg*s" grown heads!
The production is actually very good, it complements the whole theme of the album....

Lol. Cool but I see NaS needed HEAVY security at the Rucker. I didnt even know that it's in Harlem. That's Camron and Dame's town. Nice speech but when he mentioned Jamaica Queens and QB the crowd was getting agitated and he had to wind it up. LOL New York needs more unity.

That's how I felt about the album aswell. I'm loving the joint with Amy Winehouse - Cherry wine, her vocals are insane! Daughters, to me, sounds like Black girl lost.

This is not a cla**ic but still very good. I only skip 3 tracks. It's quite an introspective album. Not like half the stuff out now where there's no emotion and real life. Production is tight too - normally Esco's problem area. Ain't heard anything better than Accidental Murderers this year.

Agree -Locomotive is 90s but still fresh.
Mr C - Stay and Bye baby those are the "introspective" songs. I bump all the songs you mentioned except Roses. Maybe it will grow on me. But as I said, I skip a few. It's not Illmatic where everything is dope from start to finish.

Well many people have argued over the years that there is a weak song on Illmatic ala One Time for Your Mind. Not weak, weak, but not up to scratch with the rest of the album.

Summer on smash rocks me...I love it!

Bumped this again last night.. Decided to make my own CD leaving out Anthony hamiliton joint ( will drop this in the woodstock, heal the world make it a better place, compilation disc) and summer on smash ( Trash box).. I thoroughly enjoyed it.. But then , i totally forgot about Nas when MOST OF MY LEADERS STILL DONT APPEAR ON STAMPS ( New Public Enemy came on).

This record has grown on me actually. I should probably make a my own mix too D, sounds like a good project. I will probably end up with only about 8 tracks though.

u should hear the contrast between the beat on ROses ( the intro sounded like a latin america soap opera score shit. Quite a few beats start like that but the God had too much to say and slick as ever with the words so i had to listen ) and when Public enemy came on on the playlist.. BLACK POND IS TOO SERIOUS THOUGH
