« on: April 06, 2006, 02:18:32 PM »
the SA scene is dead...hmmm. very stagnant from i can see. godamn it.

somehow, i think the SA scene relies too heavily on international new styles to come up with different stuff.

either way. check these guys out. Spank Rock. from baltimore. its weird funkness hip hop with rad styles n tastes. check it

www.spankrock.net

or www.nme.com   the media player on that site, and look for the album sampled.
look for especially the track sweet talk...

peace n chicken grease

its little idiots like this cat above who f*** it up for everyone.

mr. "g suspect" it would be  great if you left your dumb non-opinions to yourself.

back off the tangent:

i think you have a point syntactic. i hate to admit it cos i myself much prefer (for myself that is) "creative masturbation", was it?, to any of this same old same old. cos although thats were the money and honey is, i think for the funky freshness and original stuff needs to persist,to not give up and gain support from big companies or shows to really make a break through onto the market. so the creative stuff really begins to be considered. see cos you have science raps, which may be appreciated by people but theyll never find out who the artists are so theyll never here em. and then theres stuff that is creative but which has commercial potential. not to say its in anyway commercial but it has more of a rock steady funkyness to it. thats what people want really. they dont want to listen they want to dance. i think...
so great if people do that for commercial success and all but totally selling out is straight up the biggest mistake and guy can make. maintain originality and do what works for you. if scientific cooty raps work for you, i say stick to it and build a base of support. if you rock steady creative funk, play clubs, and have djs and lights and beer and honeys and panties and and funk and hip hop to dance to with a brain behind it. if commercial works for you, ok stick with it. i guess.
if you gangsta rap, please get the mentioned friends to dig you a grave, sing a super boogaloo bedtime stoeri and lay down to die. please.

General Discussion / your words on the ´scene´
« on: November 25, 2005, 09:40:19 PM »
THE SCENE?!

what do all the people think about the hip hop/music scene in South Africa or specifically Cape Town/Joburg etc....

In brief: cape town alias land of the funky fresh electrofunkers is on top.

joburg is dieing, if not already dead. with all these carbon copy mcs around the excitement and unpredictability are gone. like a limp penis.

out of the hip hop scene, joburg is pretty slick. the best nights out are watching a funky or punk rock band in melville somewhere (watch out for the  heavy metal though, risky business only for users of super satan lubricant)
and cape towns on a par....

whats everyone else think? if at all...

Hot Traxxx / Cannibal Ox are back. Will they still be making waves?
« on: November 24, 2005, 08:15:09 PM »
Cannibal Ox can definitely cut it. clean wide open. this is the stuff i truly got immersed into hip hop with alongside aesop rock and Co Flow. later came concentration camp shit.

move over, tired hip hop scene, the electro funk generation is gonna smack you on the back of the head with an electro drum pad and put your amu-inspired whining to shame.

space krunk  science funk  electrofunk   zombie raps

where are spoek and ootz?!
