Graphics Section / Photography studies
« on: October 08, 2009, 03:37:08 PM »
I am thinking of formalising my photography by doing short courses starting next yr because i work full time.
evenings are all i have available...maybe some weekends.

I have checked at mainly City Varsity & Ruth Prowse school of art (i'm based in CT)
The durations and syllabi seem to be the same :
7 - 10 wks

but the costs differ dramatically

CV - R4200
RP - R1600

But I can only find bad reviews for CV on the net...
Can anybody vouch for either of these?
Especially Nat - since you're in the industry.

PS - When you quiz lecturers on industry connections and feeder programs they draw a blank mostly.....sigh

Help.

General Discussion / Most irritating flows
« on: July 20, 2009, 12:04:26 PM »
The most irritating flows voices in Hip Hop awards commences.
In no particular order....the most yawn worthy , unlistenable , grating flows in the game (dead or alive) , present or past:

this is one of my list games...
so feel free to add on.

Female MC award goes to Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes

Then there's

Guru - nevermind sleeping pills...no variation...zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Sen Dog from cypress Hill (No motivation necessary)
Sometimes even B-REAL can be a bit much on an empty stomach.

and for the "learn to rap with your f***ing mouth open club":

Mase, Fifty cent

any other candidates?

Producers - Discussion / Swagger jacked....
« on: March 06, 2009, 08:26:07 AM »
Was Kanye on production of that swagger like us joint?
If so ...

Is it now acceptable to jack a voice over less than a year from when it was released?
...and then to shut the artist M.I.A up nicely by just offering her the spot to perform with them and sing the hook.
Ja, she probably would'nt have had that opportunity...but where is the line drawn?

I think Jim Jones might also have made a beef track based on this track of jigga, knaye , little wayne etc.

Plus , Was it my imaginnation or was T.I 'S contribution the most respectable on that track?

General Discussion / Adieu & farewell
« on: April 15, 2008, 03:19:22 PM »
Not that there needs to be any fanfare...
I just wanted to say thanks for the laughs, the PTF's , good music , conversation, empathy , sympathy, indifference.

I'm taking an indefinite break from shooting HipHop.
I'm going to be focusing much more of my energy for my daughter's benefit.I've moved into a new phase in my life and , well ...this lifstyle doesnt feature in it.

I will come back just to see responses - LOL (I'm curious that way ;D)
Lots of love & respect to all.

Hip Hop Events / cover charge
« on: February 20, 2008, 10:59:28 AM »
With all due respect.

I dont know any of Bahamadia's songs.Cant even hum along to one.
I'm going so I can take some pics of an international hip hop act in capetown , enjoy a beer with some friends & ....NETWORK.

Let's be honest.
It's not everyday such a diverse crowd of HipHop heads RSVP on facebook that they will be there.Props to Kenny for bringing us together.May he make good money.

So , why do we fork out R70 to support an international act, but wont coughup the R20, R30 to support each others parties.
Are we crabs in a bucket?

See , its like a stokvel , or a savings club. You put your money into a group & benefit. You benefit to an extent which you would not have seen on your own.

Any guesses?
