Hot Traxxx / Ludicrous Jacob Zuma
« on: April 09, 2006, 11:14:15 PM »
Yo AG.

What you think about about Jacob Zuma's statement that having a shower straight after sex lessens your chance of getting AIDS?  8O
Do you think he meant it or is he just a drowning man clutching at straws?

Tune in to the Head Warmers (22:00) on BUSH RADIO on Friday (7th) night to hear what this cat is all about.

"From the beginning we see no end no tunnel to see beyond/
And sinning's the only trend, immoral funnel word is bond/ You'll
find a picture of yourself carefully etched in cave stone/
but stay stoned your philosopher's lejwe will be yr gravestone/
This is the 2 thousandth season our worths are numerous like sand grains/
sometimes we're humerous like bones broken in pursuit of gravy train/
At all cost, this senseless business is approved by prophets/
With easy solutions, this malady is way too intense they can't dissolve it..."

General Discussion / Senzeni Na
« on: May 23, 2005, 11:21:25 AM »
Yo, I'd be interested to know how many cats out there have heard that joint by HIDDEN FORCE, I think it's called "Senzeni na".

In the hook, they sing a song my mother told me SHE sang back in 1976 while marching through the streets of Soweto, rebelling against the bantu education system.

That clique (Hidden Force) does that song justice!  Even my moms feels that joint!
Yo, big ups to Hidden Force: the beat, the song and especially the content.  The song is very said though, more like a lament, talking about the death that's all around us.

PHAMBILI bafwethu.

P.S. Once a pirate always a pirate. Up the Bucs.

Producers - Discussion / "Speaking in a (not so) Native Tongue"
« on: May 06, 2005, 12:54:05 PM »
There is no shame with speaking with an accent characteristic of townships.

I have noticed that more and more individuals have decided that hip hop is strictly American and as such, speaking with a [forced] American accent, either when rapping or when presenting a show etc, is the right thing to do.
Allow me to express my opinion, (if the shoe fits, wear it but please forgive me) there is nothing worse than hearing someone, who comes out of the South-West Townships speaking - or trying to speak - like he was raised in America...

The  reason I am saying this is: I occasionally listen to the Saturday night show on Metro FM, and I listen to this cat "Thibo Touch" and a few of his friends speaking in [very forced] American accent.
I have no problem with Thibo Touch, it's what he does that gets me.

Perhaps there is something I do not know that might change my views.

Please express your opinion

General Discussion / Go ba motho o motsho
« on: October 20, 2003, 03:49:00 PM »
"the only that is fixed, is change itself.  But that should not be an excuse for people changing themselves.  If you are black, u should remain black and not try to change yourself, compromise yourself."

Some time ago, people eloxion used to want to "crucify" hip hop heads, claiming emphatically: "A se mo States! [this is not America]".  I´m talking as recent as 1999.  Only four years down the line, the same people who were claiming: "A se mo States!" and "Siyekeni nga le RAP yenu!" are listening to artists such as 50 cents and others.
I find this to be hypocrisy.  But diplomatically speaking, i feel that it is not their faults.  Let us admit that our lives are dominated by what we see on television, and we are far more exposed to the ways of Americans a million kilometres away, than to our own lifestyles, our own original selves.
The result is that people are living pseudo-American lifestyles, saying "yo", "Ya´ mean!" and other expressions.

Personally, I do not have a problem with black people in America.  I do not have any problem with Americans trying to "get back to their roots".

I believe that we are all brothers and sisters, we share the same heritage and history, whether you are on the continent or part of the diaspora community.  Peter ´Tosh said, "If you´re black then you´re Afrikan".  I believe it´s true.

What is emerging in South Afrika among hip hop heads is a demand for people to start writing lyrics in their own languages.  This is a good thing, because not only can you ´clear your conscience´ and not feel ´guilty´ about listening to a music genre that so many people claim came from America, but you can also express yourself better in your own tongue, even if you were not taught it in school.
Nuff said.

i just want to finish off with a freestyle...

Look beyond beyond, and find yourself in a magical world
Breathe soul into your previous lifetime and let your mind swirl
To the same rhythm created by your heartbeat
beating sounds in your ears using drums vibrating through the streets
Of time, and time again cutting ignorance like cirumcision
I´m underground, but I´ve never had tunnel vision
Visualise crystal springs that will nourish my soul
This is only a fraction of my skill, but I still remain whole
Holy herb that we smoke keep us closer to Jah
spirituality is all about faith, not whose religion came from far
We are living in a world where it´s hard to be   SELF
Keep my imagination running to give my mind good health
Always a  first time, bless the spirit of Robeson, i stay selective
I never sweat, exercising my skill, keep virgins active
No sexual connotations, I apologise for being rude
"Hip hop is not about who´s the best, it´s about reflecting a mood"
                                           ...........
Ka sefathlego se seputswa mme mathlo arurugile
Ke tsamaya ke sena dithlako, ke ntse ke lebile
Pele, pelo yame entsha madi a mantsho
Ke go betsa ka matswe gore o tswe madi ka dinko
Ke pila, ya ka moratuwa wa me, wa ikitsi
Re tla bona ka mebala ga re tlare ke pitsi
Gara pitsa ya kelello yame o wetse teng
Gona yanong ke lewatleng,
feela ke tlaga Gauteng...

Chief Rocka - Open Mic / No subject, only subjective words
« on: September 10, 2003, 03:46:00 AM »
Images of past experiences litter my brain with thoughts/
Thinking of my previous lifetime I´m educated but I was never taught/
How to live life to the fullest so I give it all that I can/
Constantly give my skin complexion mad props like Khoisan/
I´m black as coal, it is easy to understand my tendencies/
My mind is always tight-knit, essentially like black families/
I keep on and on like the love that I show to my brethren/
I always claim to be a focused cat, cos´ I keep the subject matter relevant/
It doesn´t matter like invisible particles I´m ever-present/
Unseen like your secret thoughts, I stay humble like peasants/
Writing words that will form the foundation for tomorrow/
I could say I´m ill, or wicked, but that doesn´t mean I choose to dwell on sorrow...

Peace

General Discussion / i AM impostor...
« on: July 29, 2003, 12:36:00 AM »
Look... I was trained in concentration camps to capture your attention/
Not to mention I´m ill, and try hard not to follow convention/
International, but I only exist in my own world/
Universal, in the eye of your brainstorm I cause a swirl/
In your beliefs, replace ignorance with truth/
Never been corrupt , my flows have trapped me in a fountain of youth/
In mountains i move, like winds that bring some coldness/
I´m monstrous, never seen like Loch-Ness/
I´m no less tight than all the half-naked women seen on television/
Destroying their souls, disregarding their femine recognition/
Forever caused infinite veins to stop their faulty functioning/
The world named me an impostor, cos´ they couldn´t find a better synonym/
For gifted,
I remain with my gifts now in the present/
i present myslef to this world as an earthly king/
Ceremoniously claimed to be an artist so I sing/
In words that cannot be properly documented/
I am dark like concrete, consume only water so my authority gets cemented...

Chief Rocka - Open Mic / No subject, no subjective words
« on: July 25, 2003, 03:26:00 PM »
I spit, in fact I vomit on the set/
Come through like an orgasm my amnesia won´t forget/
The amount of badly written quotes and re-quotes seen frequently/
My superhuman strength brought evolution to humanity/
But not the sick type, like Freud spitting incoherent theories/
Step on HOLY ground, with shoes on just for the HELL of it/
Like oesophagus I catch undigestible words, both up and down, then I spit/
disregarding modern medicine I write, I take out organic products like homeopathy/
Path, I walk on is littered with psycho/
Evaluate evaluations, on the road to Orlando/
Where I´m from, not the sunrise but I rose in the west/
I´m not trying to boast but my energy gave birth to zest/
My breast is beating with the right rythm, on the left/
I left cats out of my domain, but they´re still crying for human rights, expect/
Me to see you in small oceans/
You didn´t catch that, I school cats like fish(es) in slow motion...
