Hot Traxxx / The Sequel
« on: August 17, 2009, 09:04:14 AM »

Almost a year in the making, here is The Sequel, the second mixtape created entirely by members of the Africanhiphop.com forums. The first collection, called ‘Africanhiphop: the Naija chapter’ (2007) gained a lot of interest worldwide.

Like its predecessor, this new volume was initiated in the discussion forums and most communication happened right there (this thread). It took a while for all contributions to be sent in, but the result is stunning. The Sequel shows the power of the joined forces of the online African hip hop community and it’s a good example of music production and distribution in the modern age.
Overseen by MHP, The Sequel features beats by five different producers and vocals by emcees from all over the continent.

EMCEE AFRICA'S BACK

Emcee Africa, the continent’s extensive hip-hop talent search is back - bigger and better than before. Auditions kick off in Botswana on Saturday, 17 April and his time the series has added reach and conscience through a tie-in with Mi, a major new youth-oriented cell phone brand.
The 13-episode reality competition, which will air on Channel O from May, promises to turn up the volume during the second season with emcees from five countries (Botswana, South Africa, Kenya, Ghana and Nigeria) demonstrating their skill and finesse across three categories in the search for the best all-round emcee.

Emcee Africa will be presented by Lee Kasumba, one of the continent’s most credible youth commentators, and each country will field its own panel of credible hip-hop judges.

Once competitors have fought it out over three categories – performance, freestyle and battling - two emcees from each country will be nominated by their judging panel to go forward and compete in the Emcee Africa grand final, to be held in Botswana in July. The overall winner will receive US$10,000 and a chance to feature on a new track with three African hip-hop veterans. This original track will be accompanied by a music video, shot to commemorate the occasion.

Botswana – Saturday, 17 April
South Africa – Saturday, 24 April

Could R.Kelly be nothing more then a common thief, among other things? A South African woman is making some shocking allegations against the pied piper of little girls. A Durban woman named Busisiwe Priscilla Zakwe claims she deposited 10.5 million South African rands ($1 million) into R Kelly's bank account for a concert that never happened.

The concert investors are suing her a**. R says he never heard of the woman nor received any money, but investigators claim to have a copy of a deposit slip proving the transaction took place and have confirmed that the account belongs to R-ah.

The case is scheduled to be heard in a South African court on September 10, 2009.

General Discussion / Mac Daddy
« on: February 13, 2009, 08:53:02 AM »
(off concrete loop)

A CL Reader spotted former Kris Kross member Chris “Mac Daddy” Kelly, 30, at Piedmont park in ATL earlier this week. The former 90s rap star, was just chilling and enjoying the atmosphere. He was still rocking his pants backwards like he did in the 90s. According to various sources he has Alopecia Areata that’s why he is balding in certain areas.

As of 2007, the group supposedly reunited and are currently working on different projects with Jermaine Dupri. & word is he has his own label called C.co records. No word on what his former group member Chris “Daddy Mac” Smith is doing.

I was wondering what happened to these guys...
