Sports Arena / Transfers for 2010/2011
« on: July 10, 2010, 07:33:47 PM »
Hope this thread will work for all of us who love all the intricacies of the game, including the movement of merchandise (players) during the transfer windows.

Here are some of the interesting moves so far...

Birmingham bought Ben Foster( from Man U)  :o and Nikola Zigic (tall Serbian striker from Valencia)

Liverpool...what are you doing. Letting Benayoun go to Chelsea, Chelsea sent Michael Ballack back to Bayern Leverkusen

Jerome Boateng, Yaya Toure, David Silva  coming to Manchester City

We...that is Man U...took that Mexican, Hernandez. Does not look too shabby

Barcelona will be pwning with David Villa at the helm. Henry is going to the USA a la Beckham

Real Madrid took that Argentinian kid, Di Maria... I'm wondering what Mourinho is planning.

If anyone has some good sites for this sorta thing, please let  a brother know.

Hot Traxxx / 1kind 4 ur mind
« on: June 19, 2010, 07:31:42 PM »
Greetings AG fam. 1kind is planning to release a digital mixtape in July. This is mainly a promotional activity, so the music will not be for sale. The mp3s will be made available on AG and upon request on any other file hosting site.

The mixtape is called 1kind 4 ur mind. It is mainly a collection of material that I've been constructing  since 2006. I've held onto it for a long time so this will be my way of putting it out there, and starting on a clean slate. This will be a prelude to a few projects that 1kind is involved in, most of which will be in circulation before the year is over.

There is a Drum N Ba** project..with a new talented Cape Town based producer. [still to be completed].

There is an alternative rock project that has been in the pipelines since 2008. L.I.F.E...or Lessons In Finding Enlightenment is the name of the group.

I'm expecting to do many collaborations this year. One of which will introduce 3 young talented emcees from Cape Town, namely: Macingo, Worst and Coomz. The project we are working on is already 4  tracks deep [it will be called... I sweet le jam but more on that later  :)]

Of course there are those who already know the more poetic side of my performances. I haven't done much in that regard since Poetry Delight in 2008. I have too many pieces lying unused in my old notebooks so I will be visiting a poetry spot near you very soon.

There might be a nice surprise for the people with me and Zaki.... ;)

And of course, I will continue to try and expand the Headwarmaz Show. I have been putting in a lot of work on the show, and I'm proud to be part of the exponential growth of Cape Town hip-hop. [Go to www.bushradio.co.za for more information, or come and join the 'Headwarmaz' group on facebook]

About 1kind 4 ur mind

Stylistically, 1kind loves to be easy on the listeners ear. So expect the majority of the beats to be laid back, boom-bap a la 9th Wonder, to accompany the versatile flow. I prefer content that will keep the listener engaged long after the first listen. I try and stay away from in-your-face punchlines...so do not expect too many "aaaaaaawwwwwhhhhh" moments. That is all I will say...the music shall speak for itself.

The track listing will be as follows.

1. I'm so ready
2. Underground bound
3. Hot like chakalaka
4. Cingisisa K'qala
5 . Umuzi onotywala
6. Stay with me
7. We need more
8. Tears rising
9. Remember that day
10. A fish out of water
11. Inkululeko ayikho free
12. Without you
13. Akho mali
14. Fly-by-knight
15. It is [whoah baby]
16. Let there be 1kind

I will post the lyrics and the tracks soon. Thank you for your time and support.

AG Wire / True heart of darkness...
« on: December 24, 2009, 01:40:45 PM »
Madrid - Spain has granted asylum to an African albino for the first time after a 22-year-old Malian claimed he was persecuted by witchdoctor kidnappers in his home country, reports said on Tuesday.

Abdoulaye Coulibaly, who reached Spain's Canary Islands illegally in March and was granted asylum status on Friday, says he escaped several kidnap attempts in the Malian capital Bamako, El Pais newspaper reported.

"Twice they tried to kidnap me to use my body," Coulibaly told El Pais. "I know they cut off the fingers and the hands of other albinos to use them in rituals."

Beliefs surrounding "white-skinned blacks" have been entrenched in some African communities for centuries and albino body parts, used in lucky charms, can fetch tens of thousands of dollars.

AG Wire / Fire on the Mountain...
« on: December 24, 2009, 01:35:00 PM »
A row is brewing over whether or not the City of Cape Town is entitled to offer advertisers space for illuminated branding on Table Mountain for the Fifa World Cup next year.

According to documents detailing opportunities to Fifa sponsors for next year's tournament, for just R150 000 a month the World Heritage Site is a "confirmed and available" advertising site. The City of Cape Town is obliged to offer Fifa's sponsors first right of refusal "on all public advertising media".

The documents suggest SA National Parks, which manages the mountain, had agreed to its use for advertising.

But SANParks has denied there was any agreement and has refused to allow branding on the mountain.

Movie Talk / Best Movie FX
« on: September 15, 2009, 12:39:44 PM »
I'm not just impressed by explosions and slow-mo cams. I like it when the FX team pays attention to detail.

Yesterday I was watching Wanted, the gunslinging movie starring Angelina Jolie, Common, and Mormon Freeman.

Forgetting everything else, the best effect was when the main guy was quitting his job and was walking out with the keyboard. He hit his 'friend' on the face and the keys from the keyboard move slowly towards the screen, with specks of blood from the guys mouth. I only noticed yesterday that the keys that flew off the keyboard were, F U C K Y O U.

Brilliant.

General Discussion / Weekend Chronicles: Life in marvelous times....
« on: September 14, 2009, 03:59:24 AM »
It's 20h30. I have been steadily downing alcohol throughout the day. The rate at which i empty beers into my throat increases after watching Arsenal lose, and Man U win.

My friends decide to move onto greener things. Weed smoke fills the room. I do not partake this time around. I move onto my more traditional poison. 1 part Russian Bear vodka to 4 parts Stoney ginger beer. It is an innocuous mixture.

We run out of alcohol but it's okay because everyone feels their fair share of the buzz. We decide to move the party into town. The cab will take an hour. We will have to wait, because this cab driver is cheaper.

In town the cab driver drops us off right in front of Marvel. I convince my friends to come in with me. They are persuaded by the sight of beautiful, young woman dancing seductively on the tables. One of them is wearing what would barely pa** as a skirt. A closer look may be in order.

Inside I feel comfortable. The music is not my preference but the tempos and sounds are within my reach. My friends are into house music. They decide to buy drinks and look for somewhere to stand in the crowded club. There are many familiar faces, to which i nod politely. I also partake in my meet-and-greet rituals. After an hour the DJ plays some cla**ics. We all scurry towards the over-populated 'dance floor' to sing along. Unfortunately this brings more people onto the floor. My friends becoming claustrophobic. We need to leave urgenlty.

We take the party to La Reference. The big ba** of house music is being chunred out of two struggling speakers. The sound is too loud it distorts. The pain in my ears adds to my irritation. I comically put my hands over my ears. Some of the patrons look at me disapprovingly.

The good thing about this place is CHEAP QUARTS. Within an hour i have downed 2.25 litres of Black Label.

The music starts feeling good. The mixture of African drums and exotic instruments get me to my feet. This is what they call deep house.
I'm alone on the dance floor . Intoxicated. The music makes me think of heavenly spaces. I'm in a trance. i close my eyes and sway giddily.

All of a sudden my world is interrupted by some Bojo-mujo sounding house with Xhosa lyrics. My world becomes infiltrated by women's shrieks. I'm caught off-guard when this sweet looking young lady looks at me and shouts out the words. Luckily the words are quite repetitive. within no time I'm as animated in my chanting as the rest of them.

The Dj starts mixing the tracks. I don't know the upcoming song. My 'house' friends look comfortable. Apparently the song is from Big Nuz. The words are not as repetitive. Everyone else is belting out the words at the top of their voices.

In my drunken frustrationI scream out,  "House music is shit! Yikaka le iculwa apha!"

Everyone else laughs. However 2 guys are offended by my comments. They approach me. They are BEE-fattened. They look intimidating in their inappropriately tight fitting golf shrts tucked into their Chinos. Their belts are struggling to hold back the overflowing bellies.

One guy steps closer to me and calls me a coconut. I tell him that he has enough rolls on his neck to feed Somalia for a month.

A fight breaks out.

I wake up the next morning with a ma**ive headache. My knucles have painful cuts on them and my ribs are painful.

My friends fill me in. They tell me that house music makes me violent...

I'll never listen to Big Nuz again.

Hot Traxxx / Onek1nd's underground bound
« on: August 10, 2009, 01:40:44 AM »
Underground bound is a concept that originated from the minds of Cosmic Knight, Obscure and Onek1nd. The concept was executed on an instrumental by Cosmick Knight. I'm posting my elaboration of the concept laid down on a 9th Wonder beat. enjoy

Sports Arena / UEFA BUILD UP
« on: February 20, 2009, 03:40:48 PM »
I'm not really a betting man, but the fixtures that have been scheduled in the knockout rounds of the UEFA champions league are too good to be true.

Who do you think has a realistic chance of winning this? I'm a Man U supporter but my money would probably be on Inter... :(...

I've marked all the teams i think will win in their games with a (w)... and i've got tons of reasoning to back it up. Nostradamus in the house...

Atletico Madrid (w)  v Porto

Lyon v Barcelona (w)

Arsenal  v Roma (w)

Inter (w) v Man U

Liverpool (w) v Real Madrid

Juventus (w) v Chelsea

Villareal (w) v Panathinaikos

Sporting v Bayern (w)

I can't wait
